Payette Brewing Announces Cans (PR)

(Garden City, ID) — Payette Brewing is excited to announce that Payette Pale Ale and Mutton Buster Brown Ale will be available in 12 ounce cans July 27th.

Whether hiking in the Sawtooths or sitting on the dock at the lake, Payette chose to package its beer in cans to give consumers the freedom to take craft beer with them on their next adventure.

“Cans are awesome” said Mike Francis, founder of Payette Brewing. “People say they want to brew beers they want to drink. Well, we also want to be able to take our beer where we want to go. There are just too many places you can’t take glass.”

Northwest Canning, a mobile beverage canning operation based out of Portland, will do the initial canning. Payette chose to use mobile canning because it provides the opportunity to get the cans out on the market this summer, rather than later in the year. A canning line of its own is not out of the question though. Payette is exploring canning line options for installation in 2013.

On July 27th, the brewery will be the first place to offer cans for purchase. The cans will be available at a handful of stores July 30th.

About Payette Brewing:
Payette Brewing Company opened its doors in May 2011 in Garden City, ID and has twice expanded its brewing operations making it Boise’s largest brewery. Payette is on pace to produce 2,500 barrels in 2012. Payette has three styles available year round and offers seasonal and special releases from the “Ales of No Return” series throughout the year. San Tan Brewing Company’s (Chandler, Arizona) Sex Panther is indeed inspired by a scene in Anchorman. Tallgrass Oktoberfest with Bee Puke

Tallgrass Brewing (Manhattan, KS) will release Honeyfest in cans this fall.  The Tallgrass twist on the brew is the addition of honey, or “bee puke” as they like to refer to it.   Yes, I said bee puke.  Let’s get into that for a second. Bees collect nectar from flowers and store it is a stomach separate from its true stomach. Internal enzymes begin converting the nectar to honey on the way back to the hive. Upon arriving back at the hive, the bees puke up the honey. It’s then finished into honey, or becomes part of the honeycomb. So yeah, be puke – aka honey.

Style: Oktoberfest (w/ honey)
Availability: 16oz cans, Draft
Arrival: Fall, 2012

Intuition Needs Second Digs To Keep Up with Can Demand

A good spot to be in.  Intuition Ale Works is searching for a placeto build a second brewery.  Why? Their demand for cans is causing a big strain on production.  In early 2012, the brewery intro’d People’s Pale Ale, I-10 IPA, and Jon Boat Coastal Ale.  The cans are a hit.  The new location will essentially be a “cannery” for the lineup.  [Examiner]

Uinta Expanding & Plans To Start Canning

The press release pretty much sums it up.   Uinta is expanding, and making plans to start canning their beer in 2013.

June 22, 2012, SALT LAKE CITY– In its 20th year of operation, and to accommodate a 67% sales growth in 2012, Uinta Brewing Company announces plans for expansion.

In April 2012, Uinta installed three new fermentation tanks, increasing its production capacity to 65,000 bbls and allowing Uinta to implement a 24/7 brewing schedule to meet the growing demand. The expansion does not stop there, however.  In addition, Uinta recently acquired the land immediately south of the existing brewery. Following the recent demolition of the preexisting structure, from which 100% of the materials were recycled, Uinta has developed plans for a second plant, a 34,000 sq. ft. building, which is slated to break ground in July, 2012.  The new facility will house Uinta’s packaging equipment, cold storage, a second lab, employee tasting room, and additional office space.  All told, Uinta Brewing Company will operate on a more than 5-acre brewing campus. The project is expected to be completed in early 2013.

For this brewery, the new facility isn’t the only thing on the rise.  Aware of the sluggish economy, and eager to help local business, Uinta is thrilled to be adding a host of new team members.  The brewery’s growth is directly responsible for a 40% increase in jobs.

With the new facility, Uinta will be installing a canning line, adding a new option to their current packaging lineup. The Uinta team, comprised of outdoor enthusiasts, is excited to offer a package that pairs well with adventure. Uinta has not finalized which brands will be dressed in the new aluminum package, and the team welcomes your input via a Facebook poll. Visit Uinta’s Facebook page  to let them know which brands you would like to see (drink) canned.
