Oskar Blues Barrel-Aged Mocha Ten FIDY is coming in July

Oskar Blues Barrel-Aged Mocha Ten FIDY will be available at both Colorado and North Carolina breweries in July.

July 7th National Chocolate Day – a perfect day to release the latest iteration of the most recognizable imperial stouts in beer – Oskar Blues Ten FIDY. That motor oil resembling liquid has been aging in bourbon barrels with Cholaca, a pure liquid cacao.

The finishing flourish is a hefty dosing of Mexican bean cold brew from Hotbox Roasters.

The O.G. Imperial Stout got a one-way golden ticket to the inside of a barrel, where it went ass-over-elbows into a Cholaca chocolate river and then hotbox’d with Hotbox Roasters’ cold brew until it manifested as a smooth mocha mutha.

Oskar Blues Barrel-Aged Mocha Ten FIDY will only be available at the Longmont, Colorado-based brewery and the Brevard, North Carolina brewery on July 7th. Wristbands will be handed out starting at 9:30 am (local time). 19.2-ounce cans are available by the can ($15), 12-count case ($180) with a 5 case limit.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ Coffee. Chocolate. Barrel Aged. Bourbon.)

Double barrel-aged Monday Night Excolatur hits shelves

Monday Night Excolatur debuts on February 10th.

The base beer for Monday Night Excolatur, a dark sour, has been aging in a blend of bourbon and rum barrels for more than two years. For the last four months, Excolatur has been aging on Montmorency cherries.

“Excolatur is Latin for ‘Development.’ This beer started out in fresh bourbon barrels before a transfer to rum barrels. We then inoculated it with locally sourced Pediococcus and Lactobacillus strains and aged it for another year before refermenting it on Mont cherries.

Monday Night Excolatur is now available in 500-milliliter bottles at the brewery’s “Garage” location as of February 10th, with limited distribution across the brewery’s footprint.

Style: American Wild Ale (w/ Cherries. Barrel Aged. Bourbon. Rum.)

Founders Dankwood joins the brewery’s Barrel-Aged Series in April

Founders Dankwood is coming to the brewery’s Barrel-Aged Series in April.

The Grand Rapids, Michigan based brewery has taken a “big, bold” imperial red ale, and aged it for a while in bourbon oak barrels. The resulting beer is described by Founders as having “rich caramel notes emerge from the depths of the IPA, highlighting strong malt character while the bourbon barrel-aging develops the complexity”.

RELATED: Founders KBS

Founders Dankwood will be the third release in the brewery’s Barrel-Aged Series, following the venerable KBS in March, and Backwoods Bastard (the brewery’s newest year-round beer) in April.

Expect both 750-milliliter bottles, 12-ounce bottles, and draft.

Style: Imperial Red Ale (Barrel Aged. Bourbon.)
Availability: 750ml Bottles, 12oz Bottles, Draft.

Heavy Seas Siren Noire is now 4-packs for the first time

Heavy Seas Siren Noire is set to return again in January, in a new format.

Without a doubt, Heavy Seas Siren Noire is the decadent beer in the brewery’s lineup. The base beer is an imperial stout brewed with three pounds of Belgian cocoa nibs per barrel, then aged for 5 weeks in bourbon barrels with vanilla beans.

Read more: Uncharted Waters Series

The result? Dessert beer. Siren Noire is creamy and chocolatey, that finishes with vanilla bourbon flavors. Addictive, and one of our favorite releases in the brewery’s lineup.

When the Siren Noire returns in 2018, look for it (and all the Uncharted Waters) beers in new 12-ounce packaging. This move comes as many breweries are shifting their larger beers from 22-ounce bottles to a smaller format, such as 16-ounce cans and 16.9-ounce bottles.

Heavy Seas Siren Noire returns as a short-term seasonal in January 2018.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ Cacao NibsBarrel AgedBourbon)
Availability: 12oz bottles, Draft.
Latest Return: January 2018

The Bruery PB & Jelly Thursday is coming to the Reserve Society in 2018

The Bruery PB & Jelly Thursday will be available to the Reserve Society members in 2018.

The “Weekday” Series is home to Grey Monday, Black Tuesday, and Mocha Wednesday, each of variable rarity. Last year The Bruery’s Reserve Society was home to PB & Thursday, a variant of barrel-aged Black Tuesday brewed with peanut flour. Basically peanut butter Black Tuesday.

Next year, Reserve Society members can claim The Bruery PB & Jelly Thursday. This sandwich inspired spin on Black Tuesday is brewed with peanut flour, boysenberries, and salt. The end result has to be the most alcoholic peanut butter and jelly sandwich every made (in beer form) clocking in at 19.2% alcohol by volume.

It won’t stick to the roof of your mouth, but it will impart layers of peanut character and fruity sweetness to the bourbon notes of our revered, barrel-aged imperial stout.

The Bruery PB & Jelly Thursday will be available in 750-milliliter bottles only to those in the Reserve Society in 2018.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ Peanut Flour. Boysenberries. Barrel Aged. Bourbon.)
Availability: 750ml Bottles.

NEED. Cigar City Double Barrel Vanilla Imperial Milk Porter debuts Saturday

A new drool-worthy barrel-aged release is coming to Tampa, Florida this weekend. Cigar City Double Barrel Vanilla Imperial Milk Porter.

Back in 2011, Cigar City released Imperial Milk Porter, that had been aged in Stranahan Whiskey barrels. That beer was a creamy, boozy, dream of a beer. Still one of the best beers we’ve had in 10 years here at Beer Street Journal.

Sadly, that beer had to go away after Breckenridge Brewing formed an exclusive partnership with Stranahan. No more whiskey barrels would be headed to the Sunshine State.

This weekend a new beer that sounds awfully like the sexy that was Imperial Milk Stout will rise – Cigar City Double Barrel Vanilla Imperial Milk Porter. The 12.7% alcohol by volume milk stout has been aged in both vanilla bourbon and straight bourbon barrels.

According to the brewery, Double Barrel Vanilla Imperial Milk Porter will be available in 22-ounce bottles in the taproom starting Saturday, November 4th.

Style: Imperial Milk Stout (w/ Lactose. Barrel Aged. Bourbon.)
Availability: 22oz Bottles
Debut: 11/4/17

12.7% ABV
