Surly Barrel-Aged Darkness, a rye whiskey barrel-aged variant of the wildly popular imperial stout looms in 2015.
Our 2015 vintage bottling of Darkness features a screeching bat-nightmare by local artist Brandon Holt. No creature is more adept at navigating in the Darkness than a bat. Emerging from a deep and ancient cave, this year’s twisted nocturnal creature has evolved a et of adaptations well suited to detecting and devouring uncommon nourishment.
Notes of chocolate, coffee, dried tart cherries, and raisins emirate from his lair. If you can evade the talons and teeth, the think body of this Russian imperial stout finishes sweet, with a piney resinous character.
Surly Barrel-Aged Darkness will most likely join Surly Darkness 2015 on the release day, October 24th, 2015.
While the brewery has mentioned the Darkness release, they have not yet announced details surrounding the barrel-aged bottle release.

Hangar 24 Barrel Roll Falling Leaf is the newest addition to the brewery’s Barrel Roll Series, releasing on September 26th, 2015.
Hangar 24 Barrel Roll Falling Leaf starts as Gourdgeous Imperial Porter, that was sequestered to bourbon barrels after the 2014 release.
Each autumn we brew a fresh batch of Gourdgeous, an Imperial Porter which pays homage to our local pumpkin harvest. To create FALLING LEAF, we placed a small portion of last year’s Gourdgeous in barrels to age gracefully through another turn of the seasons. A year in our cellar has mellowed and sweetened the robust flavors of pumpkin pie spice, molasses, caramel and dark chocolate, while the single-use bourbon barrels we selected added bright layers of bourbon, oak and vanilla. Beneath these layers you’ll recognize the strong core of the base beer: 1,000 pounds of pumpkins grown just ½ a mile from our brewery. Falling Leaf is ready to drink now, or can be placed into your own cellar to continue aging gracefully.
Hangar 24 Barrel Roll Falling Leaf is a 750ml bottle offering. ONLINE sales only. Show up in person to pick up your bottles.

The mixture of Colfax apple wine was aged in dark rum barrels, and then topped off with wildflower honey and dark candied syrup.

Saint Arnold Bishop’s Barrel #11 is now available. The base beer, Endeavour, Saint Arnold’s double IPA, has been aging for four months in Smooth Ambler gin barrels. The brewery calls it “Gindeavour”.
Saint Arnold Bishop’s Barrel #11 started its journey in April when it hit the gin barrels. When the barrels were pulled the hops were a little too muted, so it was blended at a ration of 20% fresh imperial IPA.
It pours a beautiful copper color with an off white head. The nose is a spicy mix of hops, wood, juniper and a hint of bourbon. There is a bitter up front that is balanced with a nice malt backbone throughout. Piney, resiny hops balance with the juniper/gin character. There is a warming alcohol note in there too. The finish is focused with the hop bitter, malt and gin character all giving a pleasant linger.
Saint Arnold Bishop’s Barrel #11 is available in 12oz bottles, and draft in very limited quantities.
Style: Imperial IPA (Barrel Aged. Gin)
Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft.
