One Shade of The Bruery’s Grey Monday

A cousin? Sister? Hot neighbor to the infamous Black Tuesday– this is The Bruery’s Grey Monday. It is closing in on a year ago that Beer Street Journal mentioned that this Black Tuesday variant was going to be released. No implying here. Grey Monday is the brewery’s massive imperial stout aged in bourbon (Black Tuesday), with a hazelnut addition. Every member in the 2012 Reserve Society received one last year…

We are going to do an extremely limited bottling of this beer, just for you. Each member will get a single bottle. There will be no extra beer for sale. Not to you and not to anyone else. We want this one to be extra special.

Grey Monday is a part of the Reserve Society again this year too. By all estimates this will be the 3rd brew of what sounds like an insanely good imperial stout. (1: Dinner at Beachwood BBQ, 2: 2012 bottles). Good luck getting your handles on a taste or even a bottle.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ hazelnut, Barrel Aged. Bourbon)
Availability: 750 ml Bottles. Bruery Reserve Society Only.
Arrival: TBA (2013)

18.6% ABV

Bronx Brewery Gin Ages Pale Ale

Bronx Brewery is edging toward 2 years old now, and is making a name for themselves in the barrel aged category.  In addition to Bourbon Barrel Bronx Pale Ale, expect a Gin Barrel Aged Bronx Pale Ale this year too.

This deep amber American Pale Ale is brewed with 5 different barley malts, generous additions of Cascade and Centennial hops, and a unique strain of yeast. The British, German and American malts used to provide an incredibly complex blend of caramel, biscuit, and nutty malt flavors. The kettle hops provide a gentle, pleasant bitterness with an intense floral and citrus aroma. Finally, it is aged in oak gin barrel for several months to impart notes of juniper, mint and pine.

Style: Pale Ale (Barrel Aged, Gin)
Availability: 22oz bombers
Arrival: TBA

6.3% ABV

Boulevard Love Child #3 Hits Tuesday, April 23rd

Boulevard Brewing (Kansas City, MO) releases Love Child #3 this Tuesday, April 23rd. The “Love” series features barrel aged funky beers for your funky/sour drinking needs.

Oak barrels were used to age the majority of beer used for Love Child No. 3–with beer aged from 16 months to nearly six years. Another portion of the beer spent 11 months in stainless tanks, souring on Lactobacillus. While very tart, the sourness is short-lived and the beer finishes dry with a trace of oak.

Style: American Wild Ale (Barrel Aged)
Availability: 750 ml bottles, Corked & Caged
Arrival: 4/23/13.

9.5% ABV, 13 IBUs

Note: You’ll see 750’s outside of Missouri. All markets according to the brewer… Supply is limited…

Blasphemy has a fairly sordid history. It was retired, then new batches found the drain thanks to QC standards, then finally released. Never give up. Looks like this will grace the 750’s when its time again.
