New Seasonal: Boulevard Tough Kitty Milk Stout

A lot of breweries have cats. Kansas City, Missouri is home to a new feline, and it’s a tough one. Meet Boulevard Tough Kitty Milk Stout.

This new seasonal stout leads with flavors of chocolate and caramel flavors thanks to the beer’s malt bill. Rolled oats and lactose ensure this beer is silky smooth.

Subtle hopping with Bravo and Cascade creates just enough bitterness to prevent the beer from being overly cloying. Deep black in color, Tough Kitty opens with aromas of bittersweet chocolate, espresso, and toffee that transition to flavors of the same. The addition of lactose, a non-fermentable sugar, works with the rolled oats to deliver a creamy, lingering finish.

 

Boulevard Tough Kitty Milk Stout is available in 12-ounce bottles and draft, as a seasonal release.

3 years & fresh blackberries. SweetWater Belgian Rose debuts

Atlanta's SweetWater Brewing took their time (and a few million dollars to do it right) building out their sour and wild ale program. You can see the result of that effort at the newest addition to their brewery – The Woodlands. On August 5th, the second release from The Woodlands debuts – SweetWater Belgian Rose.

This beer actually got its start three years ago, before The Woodlands was even built. Cabernet and Merlot barrels full of bacteria and yeast – Lactobacillus, Pediococcus, Brettanomyces Bruxellensis, and Brettanomyces Claussenii have been "funking" and souring a Belgian-style ale since 2014

In the months prior to the release, the brewery blended 1 pound per gallon of fresh Georgia grown blackberries to the base beer.

Flavor.

The wine touched oak, fresh blackberries, and sour tartness from the barrels are fighting for your attention, and that's a good thing. SweetWater Belgian Rose is a labor of love and the culmination of patience. Through the Brambles was a beautiful introductory lesson into what SweetWater can do on the wild side. Belgian Rose is like skipping a few grades and jumping right into the more advanced courses. Consider yourself lucky.

SweetWater Belgian Rose is now available at The Woodlands, part of the SweetWater facility in Atlanta.

Destihl Synchopathic Apricot joins the brewery’s Wild Sour Series

Destihl Synchopathic Apricot is the latest release the brewery’s canned Wild Sour Series.

The Wild Sour Series is home to Here Gose Nothing, Flanders Red, Blueberry Gose, and more. This third release our of four seasonal Wild Sour offerings ties in a big apricot flavor with the citrus dry-hopping of a pale ale. The kettle soured ale uses Central Illinois micro flora to create a unique “locally grown” tartness.

A winner in both taste and name. Monday Night Han Brolo

Monday Night Han Brolo will soon be found in the Atlanta, Georgia brewery’s lineup soon. We’re already in love with the name.

“A crushable, hazy pale ale” is what you can expect from Han Brolo, the long lost brother of our favorite galactic smuggler. Cans of this new release debut soon, alongside Dr. Robot, a fruited sour.

Beer Street Journal recently tried “Brolo” and the first sips just scream juicy. It’s hard not be with a Mosaic, Mandarina Bavaria, and Simcoe hop lineup.

Monday Night Han Brolo will be available in 12-ounce cans and draft this fall.

Offshoot releases Hops & Rec IPA

The first IPA release in July is Offshoot Hops & Rec, an unfiltered IPA. The hop lineup includes Simcoe, Mosaic, and Cashmere.

Each of these releases are only available for pickup at the brewery in Placentia, California, or shipping within the state. 4-packs are $21.99
