The first 5-year aged spirit from Rogue, Oregon Single Malt Whiskey debuts

Rogue Oregon Single Malt Whiskey has debuted, the first 5-year aged spirit by the brewery/distillery.

Every bit of the Single Malt Whiskey has Rogue’s fingerprint on it. The brewery grew the malt on Rogue Farms. The yeast is Rogue’s Proprietary Pacman Yeast. It was distilled on site in Newport, Oregon, and transferred to barrels Rogue coopered and toasted onsite. Then, of course, bottled by hand.

Oregon Single Malt Whiskey opens with an attractive aroma of floral honey, peach and mango. Medium-to-full bodied, the aromas slowly transition to lush, ripe fruit and brown spice.

Rogue Oregon Single Malt Whiskey is available in year-round at select retailers in 750-milliliter bottles.

Style: Single Malt Whiskey
Availability: 750ml Bottles
Debut: February 2018

80 Proof, 40% ABV

Hundreds of pounds of marshmallows, graham crackers, & coffee created The Veil Brewing S’Mores Hornswoggler

A beer that’s absolutely perfect for a campfire. The Veil Brewing S’Mores Hornswoggler debuts today.

This story begins as Hornswoggler, the Richmond, Virginia based brewery’s milk stout brewed with chocolate. The beer is so rich with not only flavor, but the potential for different variants, The Veil didn’t resist the opportunity.

Since the original release, Hornswoggler has aged on Coffee, Oreos, Peanut Butter, Coconuts, Double Chocolate, French Vanilla, even Candy Bars.

Today, The Veil Brewing S’mores Hornswoggler expands the coveted ‘Swoggler lineup. This chocolate-heavy milk stout features more than 60 gallons of Cholaca liquid sweetened cocoa nibs (for extra chocolate flavor) plus 100 pounds of marshmallows added on the hot side of the brew day.

New Belgium Tartastic Raspberry Lime Ale expands “Tart” series

New Belgium Tartastic Raspberry Lime Ale leads off a new kettle soured series of ales in 2018.

Some of this beer name should already be familiar to you – “Tartastic”. A year ago, New Belgium debuted Tartastic Lemon Ginger Sour. The brewery found success with this release among their fanbase, prompting the brewery to turn Tartastic into a full-on series. New Belgium Tartastic Raspberry Lime Ale takes the lead in the series this year, brewed with raspberry and lime purees.

Don’t let the beautiful color fool you, this beer isn’t heavy on the fruit. Each sip has a touch of tartness up front, that gives way to malty finish with just a drizzle of fresh raspberry. Intentionally restrained, Raspberry Lime Ale is better described as possessing “the essence” of the berries and citrus, instead of a face plant directly into a sweet pie.

Expect more “Tartastic” fruit-based releases in 2018.

New Belgium Tartastic Raspberry Lime Ale is a 12-ounce bottle and draft seasonal release.

Style: Kettle Sour Ale (w/ Raspberries. Lime Puree.)
Hops: Nugget
Malts: Pale, White Wheat

Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft.
Debut: February 2018

4.2% ABV

Red Brick No New Friends draws a crowd, & new fans

Red Brick No New Friends, an imperial IPA collaboration with The Wrecking Bar has debuted.

Before taking on the role as Red Brick’s Director of Brewing Operations, Gavin McKenna worked and brewed for years with Neal Engleman at nearby Wrecking Bar. They’ve been friends for a while now, nothing new there – which we’re pretty sure is the inspiration behind the name – No New Friends.

“We used a few thousand dollars worth of hops,” Engleman jokes. “Folks better like it.”

No New Friends is everything about hop heavy, dank imperial IPAs that are in high demand. The near instant line at the bar when the brewery opened is all the validation you need. Beer fans that might have slept on Red Brick before aren’t anymore.

The 8% alcohol by volume hop bomb is hopped during primary fermentation with Citra and Mosaic hops, then dry hopped with Azacca, Vic Secret, plus a heavy dose Citra and Mosaic cryo powder. Basically, this IPA is hoppy AF.

That expensive hop bill is built on a malt bill of 2-Row, flaked oats, malted oats, spelt malt and lactose. Hoppy AF, hazy, and with a smooth, almost creamy finish. Simply put, a fantastic collaboration.

Red Brick No New Friends is available in 16-ounce cans in the brewery’s tap room.

Style: Imperial IPA (w/ Lactose)
Hops: Citra, Mosaic, Azacca, Vic Secret
Malts: 2-Row, Flaked Oats, Malted Oats, Spelt

Debut: 2/1/18
