Firestone Walker Cashmere XPA joins mixed pack for summer

Firestone Walker Cashmere XPA is exclusively a part of the brewery’s ‘Beer Before Glory” Mixed Pack this summer.

Cashmere XPA is a pale ale, brewed with the Cashmere hops. Like so many popular hop varieties, Cashmere has a very unique tropical citrus flavor.

“I think it’s cool that this is a cultivar from the public breeding program, meaning that any hop farmer can grow it,” Brynildson said. “But more importantly, it’s a true new age hop with these beautiful soft fruit qualities that are really distinct.” – Matt Brynildson, Brewmaster

Cashmere XPA is joined by newly formulated Easy Jack, Union Jack, and Firestone Lager in this seasonal 12-pack. Available throughout summer 2019.

Style: IPA
Hops: Cashmere

Availability: 12oz Cans. Mixed Pack Exclusive
Debut: June 2019.

Gate City Tarty McFly releases this week. Hoverboards still don’t work on water.

Gate City Tarty McFly debuts today, a new kettle sour ale.

The Roswell, Georgia based brewery used fresh raspberry puree to really make this beer a “tart summer crusher” as the brewery calls it.

This Kettle Sour is tart, fruity and refreshingly delicious. With approximately 1.21 gigawatts of raspberries, this tart summer crusher will have you traveling back through time to find your hover-board and red puffy vest.

Gate City Tarty McFly is available in 12-ounce cans and draft as a summer seasonal release.

Style: Berliner Weisse (Kettle Sour Ale) (w/ Raspberries.)
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft.

Firestone Walker & England’s Wild Beer Company create ‘Violet Underground’

Firestone Walker Violet Underground, a cross-Atlantic ocean collaboration, debuts this week. Part of the brewery’s Barrelworks Program.

Jim Crooks, Firestone’s medal-winning master blender is good friends with Brett Ellis, co-founder, and brewer at England’s Wild Beer Company.

Dissecting this beer yeast first – Ellis sent Crooks some Wild Beer’s native yeast. Crooks then fermented two base beers. One with Barrelworks yeast and California golden raspberries, and the other with Wild Beer’s English funk. Both bases were aged in French oak between 6 months and a year. French candied violet petals were added to a handful of barrels. The result? Something Crooks calls a “head trip”.

“Violet Underground is an intentional head trip. It’s golden in color yet smells like raspberries, offering a bunch of unexpected sensory notes that all come together in the glass.”

The beer name is presumably a play on the 60’s rock band Velvet Underground, that once had Lou Reed.

Firestone Walker Violet Underground is the second packaged release in 2019, available in 375-ml bottles and draft

Style: American Wild Ale (w/ Golden Raspberries. Violet Petals. French Oak Aged.)
Availability: 375ml Bottles. Draft. Limited Release.
Debut: Early June 2019

Wild Leap expands Truck Chaser series with “Bomb Pop”

Wild Leap Bomb Pop Double IPA is the second release in the brewery’s Truck Chaser Series as May winds down.

This ice cream themed series started earlier this year with Creamsicle Double IPA, brewed with orange, vanilla, and lactose. This second release is inspired by another popular ice cream of summer, the Bomb Pop. The tri-flavored popsicle was invented in Kansas City, Missouri in 1955. National Bomb Pop Day is celebrated on the last Thursday in June.

Wild Leap Bomb Pop Double IPA features the iconic “bomb” flavors of lime, cherry, and raspberry, brewed with lactose. Did they do it? They damn well did. Every sip tastes like a mind-bendingly weird blend of hops and ice cream. Seriously, your tastebuds and your brain fight each other on what this beer is until the alcohol hits your brain and stops caring and just wants more.

Available in 12-ounce cans and draft for a limited time starting the last week of May 2019.

Style: Imperial IPA (Milkshake IPA) w/ Lime. Cherry. Raspberry. Lactose.)
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft. Limited Release.

Stone ReVengeful Spirit, like”drinking a ray of hoppy sunshine”

In 2017, Stone released Vengeful Spirit IPA with the intention of showing off fruit in what the brewery is best known for – IPAs. Two years later a bolder version of that beer returns.

Stone chose pineapples and Mandarin oranges that compliments the tropical Mosaic, Loral & Mandarina Bavaria hops.

Revengeful Spirit is more aggressive than the 2017 release, in both alcohol by volume, hops and citrus fruit. Consider picking up this bold pre-summer beer. The nose is heavy on oranges, and each sip bursts with trop-hops and pineapple, finishing smooth and slightly bitter. Stone struck a nice balance with real fruit in an imperial IPA without being, cloying, heavy or sticky. It’s like drinking in a ray of hoppy sunshine.

Stone ReVengeful Spirit is available nationally in 12-ounce cans, 22-ounce bottles, and draft.

Style: Imperial IPA (w/ Mandarin Oranges. Pineapples.)
Hops: Loral, Mandarina Bavaria, Mosaic

Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft. Seasonal Release.
Debut: May 2019

8.1% ABV
