The Vineyard at Hershey is a small winery in the countryside of central Pennsylvania. A group of friends made the decision a few years go to plant grapes on a historical 40 acre farm and open a winery. The Vineyard opened its doors in 2012 and was an instant hit. If the wine did so well, why couldn’t hand crafted beer? Thus, the Brewery at Hershey was born.
Below, you see our walkthrough of the Vineyard, and the early stages of construction of the craft brewery, and a little bit of the area around the brewery/winery. Upon opening their doors in early August, The Vineyard at Hershey becomes the first winery & microbrewery in the state. Flagship beers are currently draft only, and include Weize Guy Hefeweizen, Pond Jumper ASB, Hip Hops Hooray IPA, Chocolate Brown Ale. Upcoming fall offerings are Sap Sucker Maple Porter, and Pumpkin Spiced Ale.

12 Degree Brewing just opened this month in Louisville, Colorado. The brewery is near Westminster, just north of Denver. Jon Howland is the brewery’s founder, and he will be brewing Belgian inspired beers from what used to be a temperance house. (Where people went NOT to drink, protest the sale of alcohol, etc.) Pretty ironic that the building now hosts a brewery.
12 Degree has a 7 barrel brewhouse (217 gallons a batch) and will have a kitchen on site as well. While the website is under construction, the Facebook page is active. 12 Degree’s beers are currently draft only.
Burial Beer Co is opening in Asheville, NC. The brewery is a celebration of life, and the cyclical nature of harvest and of the brewing process.
The brewery is tiny – a simple 1 barrel pilot system. Burial will be doing a lot of test recipes in the beginning, figuring out what to brew on a larger production scale.
A 20 barrel system is planned by 2015.
The tap room is open Thursdays and Fridays from 4-10PM and Saturdays from 2-8PM.
