Red Brick Laughing Skull Craft Lager, 2nd in the series

Red Brick Laughing Skull Craft Lager will expand the “Skull” lineup this spring.

The Laughing Skull line many years ago as a Bohemian pilsner. The beer’s namesake is Atlanta’s Laughing Skull Lounge, a comedy club. At the time, the beer was a little ahead of it’s time for the city. Year’s later, Laughing Skull returned as the current amber lager. The beer is one of the most popular in the brewery’s portfolio.

This April, Red Brick Laughing Skull Craft Lager will the second entry in the “Skull” lineup. This release is a lager – lighter than the amber, to create an easy drinking beer for the coming warmer weather.

“The lager style is something that’s been missing from our offerings, and we’ve come up with a great recipe. Its an easy drinking beer and is very approachable for craft beer consumers of all levels.”

Red Brick Laughing Skull Craft Lager will be a draft, bottle and can offering.

Jester King bottles 1st 100% spontaneous beer (PICS)

Jester King Brewery (Austin, Texas) bottled their first 100% spontaneously fermented beer this week. The unnamed beer should release in late 2016.

Back in 2013, the brewery used their coolship for the first time (a shallow tub where the wort cools). Jester King let it ferment using the native wild organisms in the Texas air.

That brings us back to this week. Nearly three years into the project, the brewery has finally blended and bottled their first spontaneous beer. Jester King estimates it will take anywhere from 6-9 months to re-ferment in the bottle prior to release.

The yet-to-be named beer now rests in 750 and 375 milliliter bottles, as well as kegs.

Release – TBA.

Ballast Point Thai Chili Wahoo to be bottled

Ballast Point Thai Chili Wahoo has already been available on draft in the past. In 2016, the beer looks to join the line of interesting variants.

Interesting variants? In case you’ve been out of the loop, Ballast Point started with Sculpin IPA, with Grapefruit Sculpin and Habanero Sculpin IPA following not far behind. In January, Ballast Point released Pineapple Sculpin, and Watermelon Dorado, and Mango Even Keel.

On deck, Ballast Point Thai Chili Wahoo, a spicy spin on the brewery’s witbier.

Our Thai Chili Wahoo is a favorite in our tasting rooms for its complex balance of ingredients. Citrus and spice have long been a part of our Wahoo White. In this edition, we added a dose of Thai chilies, even more head from ginger, and a counterpunch of lime. The flavors in this beer need to be experienced first-hand, so grab one and try it for yourself.

Ballast Point Thai Chili Wahoo will be a 12 ounce bottle, and draft offering. The brewery has not yet announced this release.

Style: Witbier (w/ Thai Chili. Lime. Ginger.)
Availability: Draft (Current), Bottles (Soon)
