Monday Night Dad Bod Black Saison coming to “Clip On” series

Monday Night Dad Bod Black Saison will join the brewery’s “Clip-On” Series in October.

In September of 2015, The Atlanta, Georgia based brewery debuted a one-off series they call the  “Clip-On Series.” Beers featuring in the lineup are fun reinventions of core Monday Night releases. Examples include: Cinnamon Cocoa Drafty Kilt, and Blood Orange Blind Pirate.

Monday Night Dad Bod is a black saison, and incidentally, not a spin on a core beer like the releases mentioned above. The brewery touts this release as “Dark, herbal, and super smooth,” thanks to Keemun black tea used in the brewing process.

Dad Bod isn’t just a beer, it’s a state of mind. Dad Bod means working out just enough not to have to buy new pants, and spending the rest of the time working on your drinking muscles. Our dark saison has a mind nose with hints of espresso and citrus. A peppery flavor gives this down-to-earth beer the edge needed to attract a mate and nothing more.

Monday Night Dad Bod Black Saison will be a 12 ounce bottle and draft offering.

Style: Saison
Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft. One-off release.
Debut: October, 2016

6% ABV

Three Taverns Inceptus: The second appearance

Three Taverns Inceptus, will make a second appearance this month. This beer was the Decatur, Georgia based brewery’s first ever sour ale release last year.

Three Taverns Inceptus has a story, as every beer does, but this one is a little different. On the rare occasion Atlanta gets snow, it grinds the city to a complete halt. Joran Van Ginderachter, Three Tavern’s brewmaster, went to work. He’s Belgian. He loves beer. That’s what he does.

As it happened, Joran walked into the brewery that day with an ear-to-ear grin. The crisp, frigid air, he announced, was clean and healthy. In sum, perfect conditions for open fermentation, a process by which wild yeast is “caught” from the air instead of cultivated.

So the brewers transferred wort into a mini-fermenter and placed it outside, exposed to the air. Over the next few days they observed the signs of spontaneous fermentation and were rewarded with a wild yeast strain that literally arrived with the wind.

In 2016, a second edition has arisen, born from the snowy day and oak aging that is now apart of both the brewery and Atlanta’s beer history.

Three Taverns Inceptus is aged in North Georgian wine barrels. Available in 12.7 ounce bottles at the brewery on Sunday, September 18th.

Style: American Wild/Sour Ale (Wine Aged)
Availability: 12.7 oz bottles.
Release: 9/18/16

6% ABV

New Series: Good People SMASH Pale Ale

Good People SMASH Pale Ale might see packaging in the near future.

You might see the term “SMASH” running around the beer world lately. It means Single Malt and Single Hop. Essentially, the brewery chooses one of each in order to create a unique pale ale, IPA, etc.

It would appear the brewery will unveil a series of SMASH beers in new packaging. The Birmingham, Alabama based brewery has released various versions of single hop, single malt pale ales on draft in the past.

This light bodied brew marries a hint of hops with a whisker of tartness for a subtle citrus flavor. Silky smooth and refreshing, it’s the perfect beer.

Good People SMASH Pale Ale will be a 12 ounce can offering. The brewery has not yet announced this series.

A spin on a classic: Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Beer debuts in September

Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Beer is on the horizon from one of America’s oldest craft breweries.

The base beer for Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Beer is Anchor Steam, for which the brewery is most well known for. The San Francisco based business has touted Anchor Steam since 1896, and is the only brewery allowed to call the style “Steam Beer.” Anchor trademarked the name in 1981. You’ll find it called California common elsewhere. Steam/Cali Common is brewed by fermenting lager yeast at warmer temperatures.

In a world full of hop choices, the brewery is giving the beer a bit of a new spin by dry-hopping this release; the final result having a stronger hop aroma then you’ve ever known from the classic Anchor Steam Beer.

San Franciso’s famous Anchor Steam brand beer is unique, for our brewing process has evolved over many decades and is like no other in the world. To give this classic brew a radically different traditional twist, we created Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Beer. Made with its now special recipe, this brew is dry-hopped with a blend of new and traditional hops. The result weds the rich maltiness of Anchor Steam with the alluring fragrant happiness of our ales.

Anchor Steam brand derives its unusual name from he 19th century when “steam” seems to have been a nickname for beer brewed on the West Coast of America under primitive conditions and without ice. The word “steam” may have referred to the pressure of natural carbonation developing in the beers. Today the brewing methods of those days are a mystery, and for many decades Anchor alone has used the quant name “steam” for its unique beer.

Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Beer will debut in September in 12 ounce bottles and draft, through December, 2016.

Style: Steam Beer
Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft. Sept – Dec.
Debut: September

5.1% ABV
