There’s a new pilsner in cans in the southeast: New Realm Euphonia

New Realm Euphonia Pilsner is being canned for the first time this month.

In the two short months that Atlanta’s New Realm Brewing has been opened, two beers have become headliners – Hoplandia IPA and Euphonia Pilsner. While one has brewmaster Mitch Steele’s hoppy west coast fingerprints all over it, the pilsner leans a bit more traditional.

Steele uses Hersbrucker, Huell Melon, Saphir and Sterling hops on a German malt “blackboard”. The finished beer is the beautifully smooth, dangerously drinkable, delightfully crisp pilsners that is hard to put down. (Ed. note: we haven’t left the brewery drinking less than at least four each time.)

“… Euphonia Pilsner, our refreshing, easy sipping pils has been a favorite amongst our brewers and guests at our bar.” Mitch Steele, Co-Founder & Brewmaster

Today the brewery is hard at work canning Euphonia PIlsner for the first time. 12-ounce cans of the crisp pilsner will be available at the brewery first, with distribution to follow in April 2018.

Strawberries and mint highlight this new wild ale blend.

For Lassiez Fraise, we selected a handful of barrels that received fresh strawberries and a smaller number which had received fresh mint for blending. The result is an unexpected mingling of subtle, beautiful flavors, unlike anything we’ve ever made.

Rare coffee & expensive vanilla beans make Unknown Brewing Rarest Bean

Unknown Brewing Rarest Bean debuts on February 16th.

“Pastry Stouts’ are in high demand in the beer world. Today it’s Charlotte, North Carolina’s Unknown Brewing’s turn to release one, using two of the world’s rarest beans.

The first bean is the “Black Ivory Coffee” bean, one of the rarest coffees on Earth. The raw beans pass through the digestive tract of elephants and are very literally pooped out. (Similar to the Kopi Luwak coffee that passes through a civit.) Around 1000 pounds the coffee are produced a year, running over $100 dollars a bag.

Tongan vanilla beans are the second rare bean in Unknown Brewing Rarest Bean. Just one of the beans can run almost $20 dollars each.

Both rare beans have been added to a 12.5% alcohol by volume imperial stout and allowed to age. The result is a beer that should prove to be both rare and decadent.

Unknown Brewing Rarest Bean will be available in 16.9-ounce bottles in the brewery’s taproom on February 16th.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ Vanilla Beans. Coffee Beans.)
Availability: 16.9oz Bottles. 100 Bottles Available.
Debut: 2/16/18

Founders Dankwood joins the brewery’s Barrel-Aged Series in April

Founders Dankwood is coming to the brewery’s Barrel-Aged Series in April.

The Grand Rapids, Michigan based brewery has taken a “big, bold” imperial red ale, and aged it for a while in bourbon oak barrels. The resulting beer is described by Founders as having “rich caramel notes emerge from the depths of the IPA, highlighting strong malt character while the bourbon barrel-aging develops the complexity”.

RELATED: Founders KBS

Founders Dankwood will be the third release in the brewery’s Barrel-Aged Series, following the venerable KBS in March, and Backwoods Bastard (the brewery’s newest year-round beer) in April.

Expect both 750-milliliter bottles, 12-ounce bottles, and draft.

Style: Imperial Red Ale (Barrel Aged. Bourbon.)
Availability: 750ml Bottles, 12oz Bottles, Draft.

Berry heavy Boulevard Jam Band makes a year-round can debut

Boulevard Jam Band that was a draft exclusive in the past, is coming to cans.

This Smokestack Series release is a fruity one. The base beer is created with two-row barley, acidulated malt, and Topaz hops. The “humongous” fruit character (jammy?) comes from blueberry, red raspberry, and tart cherry juice blended at the end of fermentation.

Starting in February, look for Boulevard Jam Band to debut in 12-ounce cans, year-round. The alcohol by volume is a touch lower than its predecessor, now at 5.9% instead of 7%.

Jam Band pours a deep ruby and opens with aromas of dark berries, melon and subtle citrus. Minimal, supporting malt sweetness provides a platform from which blueberry, red raspberry and tart cherry sing resulting in a slightly tart, easy-drinking summer beer that begs for an encore.

Boulevard Jam Band will be available nationally starting in February 2018.

Style: Fruit Beer (w/ Cherry Juice. Raspberry Juice. Blueberry Juice.)
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft.
Initial Debut: 7/10/17
Can Debut: February 2018

5.9% ABV, 6 IBUs
