Dogfish Head/Victory/Stone Saison Du Buff [Video]

Enjoy the offical 2012 video for the Dogfish Head/Victory/Stone Saison Du Buff collaboration.  This year marks the second release of the beer, that has taken 10 years to be fullyl realized.

Back in 2003, three intrepid craft brewers formed Brewers United for Freedom of Flavor, or BUFF, to bring publicity to their crusade for artfully crafted, flavorful beers. To further the cause, Sam Calagione, Bill Covaleski, and Greg Koch got together in 2010 to brew an audacious collaboration beer enhanced with parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme. Emboldened by the beer’s enthusiastic reception, the BUFF team reconvened in 2012 to brew an updated version with lemon thyme from Stone Farms. And the rest is history…

Victory To Debut 5 Beers From Collab In May

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — In partnership with the German Hop Growers’ Association, Victory Brewing Company has brewed five specialty beers to debut at the Craft Brewers Conference in San Diego California.

Ron Barchet, Co-Founder and Brewmaster of Victory Brewing Company, and Eric Toft, the head brewer at Schönram brewery in German, developed these special recipes specifically for the conference as a way to demonstrate the diversity of beer flavors that can be created with unique hops.

“Each year I look forward to working with Eric on these special brews. His brewing creativity inspires and challenges us to skillfully fulfill his vision,” said Barchet. “This year, for the first time ever, the collaboration led us to brew with experimental, still not-on-the-market hop varieties.”

For the 2012 conference, the beers include two recipes brewed with two different experimental hops, Bavarian “013” Pale Ale and Bavarian “728” IPA. Two others are pilsners brewed with Tettnang hops from different farms in Tettnang Germany, Tettnanger “Strass” Pils and Tettnanger “Dietmannsweiler” Pils. The final beer was brewed using spalt select hops, and is called Bavarian “Spalt Select” IPA.

It is the sixth year that the German Hop Growers Association has teamed with Victory Brewing Company to bring exclusive recipes to the conference. Attendees can enjoy the brews for free at the Trade Expo and Hospitality.

“We have been brewing collaboration beers since 2007, long before the concept of collaboration was being mentioned in the beer press,” said Toft. “With few words and 7,000 kilometers between us, the beer always turns out to be phenomenal.”

All five of the beers will have their national debut simultaneously in San Diego and at Victory Brewing Company’s Downingtown, Pa. restaurant at the beginning of May.  [PressRelease]

Victory Brewing To Open Second Location In Chester

Victory Brewing is planning a second location in PA.  Check out the press release for the rundown…

(Downington, PA) — Victory Brewing Company is opening a second brewery in Chester County, Pa., which will allow the company to continue to create new, innovative beers and additional employment opportunities.

In 2012, Victory’s current brewery in Downingtown, Pa. will reach capacity. In order to keep up with consumers’ demand for full-flavored, high quality beer, Victory is forging ahead with expansion plans.

“Our thirsty fans have been asking us for more,” said Bill Covaleski, President and Co-Brewmaster of Victory Brewing Company. “In order to give them what they want, we need more space to make it happen.”

The new brewery location was chosen because of its similarities to Victory’s home in Downingtown. Just as the home brewery recycled an old Pepperidge Farm factory, the expansion brewery is being built within an existing complex in Parkesburg, Pa. The Downingtown location is situated a mere 14 miles from the headwaters of the east branch of the Brandywine Creek and the Parkesburg brewery will be just 17 miles from the headwaters of the west branch.

Environmental impact and water quality were major considerations for this expansion. Nearly eight months of water-quality research found that the mineral composition of the west branch water is nearly identical to the east branch.

In keeping with Victory’s “locally brewed, locally loved” motto, the choice to expand was not made lightly. The Parkesburg location will allow Victory to produce even more locally brewed and locally loved beer.

“Growing into a new facility will have some growing pains,” said Ron Barchet, CEO and Co-Brewmaster of Victory Brewing Company. “But once we are up and running, it will allow us endless opportunities to experiment with new flavors and re-create old favorites.”

Victory Brewing Company is a privately held craft brewery headquartered in Downingtown,Pennsylvania. Begun by Bill Covaleski and Ron Barchet, childhood friends who met on a school bus in 1973, the brewery formally began operations in February of 1996. Victory, Pennsylvania’s widely acclaimed brewery and restaurant, now serves fans of fully flavored beers in 29 states with innovative beers melding European ingredients and technology with American creativity.
