Terrapin Beer Company (Athens, GA) is shipping another round of their imperial IPA, Hopzilla.

2014 marks the fourth appearance of Hopzilla, making it’s debut as a Side Project #12. Each year, this beer hasn’t stayed on the shelves very long.

This big double IPA has gotten a lot of attention over the last two years, but not only because this beer really is a hop lover’s dream come true.

Terrapin Hopzilla is part of the brewery’s Monster Beer Tour 4 pack releases.

Style: Imperial IPA
Hops: Bravo, Chinook, Centennial, Citra (dry hop)
Malts: Maris Otter

Terrapin Beer Co’s (Athens, GA) is upgrading Liquid Bliss, aka Side Project #18 to year round status. By April, this decadent chocolate & peanut butter will be pleasing your inter fat kid as much as the inner alcoholic.

Melt into another dimension with Terrapin’s newest Side Project… “Liquid Bliss”. This chocolate, peanut-butter porter concoction flows like a river of self-indulgent righteousness deep into the depths of your innermost childhood memory. Turn on, tune in, and drop out of this world for a tongue tripping experience of flavors never before so eloquently combined in a liquid or solid form.

Terrapin Liquid Bliss will join a second can offering Hi-5 IPA in new, year round offerings by Terrapin.

Terrapin Monk’s Belgian Black IPA This Year

Around September of 2014, expect Terrapin Beer Co (Athens, GA) to release Monk’s Belgian Black IPA into their Monster Beer Tour.

There aren’t a whole lot of details about the recipe, as the brewing team is going to be tweaking the beer between now and brew day in the Summer sometime.

The 2014 Monster Beer Tour will include Hopzilla, Wake-n-Bake and new Rye Cubed.

Previous Monster Beer Tour member Big Hoppy Monster (seen above) has been retired.

Terrapin Side Project #22: MoonRay

Terrapin Beer Co’s (Athens, GA) Side Project #21 Pineapple Express launches this month. That beer is the winner of the employee home-brew competition.

Side Project #22 “MoonRay” is already in planning, with the test recipe being tweaked as you read this.  Per brewery co-founder “Spike” Buchowski, he intends on making this beer a bit like the chocolate orange candy. (the chocolate that splits open like orange slices).

He hopes to the do this with the addition of orange peels, chocolate malt and cocoa nibs. The weizenbock yeast will give the beer a touch of banana flavor too.

Expect this offering by Summer, 2014

Exclusive Look: Terrapin Hi-5 IPA Cans

Terrapin Beer Co (Athens, GA) made a series of announcements at a press meeting last night. One of the bigger announcements was the addition of a can to the brewery’s lineup.

In addition to RecreationALE, Terrapin will be adding a new west-coast style IPA called Hi-5 IPA. The beer, while not officially brewed yet, will be full of Pacific Northwest hops.

You will need to order beer accordingly. Walk to bar. Extend hand. Receive Hi-5 (IPA).

Terrapin Hi-5 IPA  should be available in the spring. The above is a Beer Street Journal exclusive look at the can artwork. Note, the wording isn’t correct for Hi-5.

Terrapin White Chocolate Moo-Hoo Returns This Year

Terrapin Beer Co (Athens, GA) revealed tonight that the first release in the Reserve Series White Chocolate Moo-Hoo will return again in 2014.

For this release, Terrapin added white chocolate to the base chocolate milk stout – Moo-Hoo, brewed with cacao nibs from Nashville, Olive & Sinclair.

The next White Chocolate Moo-Hoo release will coincide with the regular Moo-Hoo release in 2014…
