Bell’s Double Two Hearted Ale makes summer return

Bell’s Double Two Hearted Ale makes another return to shelves in July 2021.

For years, Bell’s Two Hearted Ale overtook Russian River Pliny the Elder as #1 India Pale Ale in America, according to Zymurgy Magazine, published by the American Homebrewer’s Association. Elder had the spot for seven years straight. Two Hearted Ale has both “classic” and “epic” statuses in our book.

In the past, you might have been lucky to come across Bell’s Double Two Hearted Ale on draft. It’s a hoppier and definitely boozier edition of its famous predecessor, to the tune of 11% alcohol by volume. If you’re a fan of Two Hearted Ale, this bigger edition really delivers.

Expect 12-ounce bottles and draft of Double Two Hearted Ale to starting hitting shelves within the week.

Style: Imperial IPA
Availability: 12oz Bottles (New), Draft.
Debut (Bottles): July 2019
Latest Return: July 2021

11% ABV

New Realm Tyrannosaurus Flex first debuted onHalloween week 2019. The dinosaurs may be gone, but this beer is back from seasonal extinction.

Atlanta’s SweetWater acquires Red Truck Brewing, announces west coast brewery

Atlanta based SweetWater Brewing Company has announced a new production facility, taproom, and restaurant in Fort Collins, Colorado.

This week, SweetWater acquired Red Truck Brewing, a Canadian brewery that bought the brewery from Fort Collins Brewing back in 2017. Red Truck closed its doors in March 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic, and never reopened. The amount of the purchase has not been disclosed.

The 32,450 square foot space will see brewing and packaging equipment upgrades, as well as a taproom and restaurant overhaul.

Late last year, SweetWater was acquired Canadian based cannabis company, Aphria Inc., a sale highly motivated by the success of the brewery’s 420 Strain Series of beers.

Additionally, the Denver Airport will soon be home to a SweetWater airport bar location, joining Last Call Bar and Grill in Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson Airport.

SweetWater ranks 11th in overall production volume amongst craft brewers in U.S. for calendar year 2020 according to the Brewers Association, currently distributing to 34 states.

The brewery opened in 1997.

Creature Comforts River Ridge Red re-emerges from barrels this month

Creature Comforts River Ridge Red returns in late July.

When you combine Virginia’s River Ridge Organics raspberries, Creature Comfort’s oak barrels and talent, and you have a wild ale made for summer.

Creature chose some of their best barrels to blend onto the fresh raspberries, punching down the fruit into the barrels for a full two weeks. After that, the raspberries soaked in the ale for another six months in oak, until the brewery achieved a balanced acid profile.

“We believe River Ridge Organics grows some of the finest berries you will find in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and that inspired us to create a beer in celebration of their beautiful crop.” – Wood Cellar and Mixed Fermentation Director Blake Tyers. “

Creature Comforts River Ridge Red first debuted in 2019. It will be available in 500-milliliter bottles at the brewery when it opens on July 23rd.

Style: American Wild Ale (w/ Raspberries. Oak Aged.)
Availability: 500ml Bottles

PROJECT X SERIES: Mother Earth Cognitive Aerobics

The halfway point of Mother Earth Brew Co.’s art-inspired “Project X” Series has arrived, in the form of Cognitive Aerobics. (That’s a beer.)

The can artwork, with a strong colorful 80’s vibe, was created by San Diego-based abstract artist, Michael Carini. His primary medium is acrylic, referring to his process as “Acrylic Alchemy.” Carini really goes into depth on what the name “Cognitive Aerobics” means, worth reading on Mother Earth’s website.

The beer is a hazy IPA, with a 50/50 mix of New Zealand and Pacific Northwest Hops The brewing process apparently captured the fruiter/juicer qualities of the hop blend, compliments by some old-school hoppy citrus flavors. From the description, your palate will definitely get a work out, tasting both old school and new school hops in each sip.

Mother Earth Brew Co. Cognitive Aerobics Hazy IPA is available for a limited time in 16-ounce cans and draft.

Style: Hazy IPA
Hops: Nelson Sauvin, Moteuka, Citra, Amarillo
Availability: 16oz Cans, Draft. Limited Release.
