New Belgium Pumpkick Arrives

pumpkick label_f

New Belgium Brewing (Fort Collins, CO) PUMPKICK, has arrived.

The newbie resembles a recent Lips of Faith release — Kick, a collaboration with Elysian Brewing. Kick was a slightly sour pumpkin beer brewed with cranberries, aged in oak. No oak aging or souring in PUMPKICK, but you can look forward to pumpkin juice, cranberries, and more. The flavor is quite complex, and the beer very easy drinking.

What’s that bite of tartness doing in a pumpkin beer? Adding the unexpected kick of cranberry juice to brighten this traditionally spiced seasonal ale. PUMPKICK is brewed with plenty of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice, but its the cranberries and touch of lemongrass that send your tastebuds sailing.

Style: Pumpkin Beer (w/ Cranberry Juice, Cinnamon, Allspice, Nutmeg, Lemongrass)
Availability: 12oz bottles, Draft

6% ABV

New Belgium & Cigar City Team Up In New Lips of Faith

2013LaFolie7ABV

New Belgium Brewing’s highly creative Lips of Faith Series will soon feature the likes of Cigar City Brewing (Tampa, FL). Both breweries combine elements of their brewing styles, from Belgian ale yeast (NB) to Spanish cedar (CC). This chili in this beer? Well that could go either way. New Belgium just started distributing to Florida in July.

We’re about to light up Florida with this Cigar City Collaborative brew. Our Belgian yeast strain tangos with Anaheim and Marash peppers along with loads of citrusy hops to create an ale full of spices. Aged on Spanish cedar to salute the mutual love of wood.

Style: Chili Beer (w/ Anaheim & Marash Chili. Spanish Cedar Aged)
Availability:
Arrival: TBA

8.5% ABV

New Belgium Brewing has signed an agreement with eight distribution partners in Utah.  The partners include – General Distributing, Big Four Distributing, Wasatch Distributing, Tooele Beverage, Marty’s Distributing, C&H Distributing, Bald Eagle Distributing and Bowtie Beverage. Fat Tire will launch in the state, with more to come.

“We are really excited about some of the recent legislation in Utah that gives us the peace of mind we need to ensure the quality of our beers will be held to our high standards,” said New Belgium Brewing Sales Co-Pilot, Brian Krueger. “Since we’re based in Colorado and share a border with our friends in Utah it only makes sense that we can now share a beer with them as well.”

New territories for New Belgium include Florida (July 29), Delaware (August 19) and British Columbia (September 9).

Half Acre & New Belgium Team Up

Half Acre New Belgium Soft Sour Ale

Half Acre Beer Company (Chicago, IL) and New Belgium (Fort Collins, CO) have teamed up to create two different beers. Each of the releases is motivated by a trip to the other’s brewery. New Belgium has already been to Half Acre, and in August the crew will head to Colorado to create their own iteration.

Beer #1: 2023m2 Soft Sour Ale. Designed to highlight the “soft complexity” of New Belgium’s brews. 2023 was slightly soured in the kettle, with Maresh and Sumac spices. Half Acre hopes to brew it again in 2023 and send it to Mars. (Probably not a joke).

Those close to Chicago will be pleased to know it launches July 19th. 22oz bottles, and growlers will be available.  We will update you on the brew day in Colorado in August.

If you go:

  • Release Date: Friday, July 19, 2013
  • 6% ABV
  • 64 oz. growler refill: $16 *
  • 32 oz. growler refill: $9 *
  • 16 oz. draft: $5
  • 22 oz. bottle: $8.99 (limit 3)

*limited to 64 ounces of growler beer total per person

New Belgium Also Headed To British Columbia

Between you, me and the New Belgium folks reading this, I’m sure they aren’t thrilled with me right now. Why? Because you now know about the brewery’s plans to hit Utah and British Columbia (that’s Canada if you are geographically challenged).

New Belgium has a tradition of sending a special limited edition of their flagship Fat Tire to each new state (or province) they newly ship to.  So Utah and B.C. this is your heads up.  It is about to get tastier. Just you wait.
