Monday Night Brewing opens “The Grove” this weekend

Monday Night Brewing’s first location was an abandoned warehouse on Atlanta’s Westside, opened in September 2012. Since then, founders Jeff Heck, Joel Iverson, and Jonathan Baker, along with brewmaster Peter Kiley, have expanded across the Southeast to Birmingham, Nashville, Knoxville, and Charlotte. This month, the brewery returns to the Westside for its latest expansion.

Meet “The Grove”

Located at 670 Trabert Avenue, Monday Night’s “The Grove” connects directly to a brand-new segment of the Atlanta BeltLine Northwest Trail, linking Northside Drive to Howell Mill Road. This new “oasis” spans 17,000 square feet of communal space, including a 7,400-square-foot indoor taproom, adjacent to the original West Midtown location. The Grove is equal parts taproom, patio, and green space paradise, serving as a BeltLine getaway.

PICS: MONDAY NIGHT BREWING THROUGH THE YEARS

The indoor taproom will feature 30 taps, the largest tap lineup the brewery has built to date. Guests can pair their beers with house-made pizzas from twin Italian ovens (including gluten-free options) or start the day with a new morning program offering coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and pastries.

The outdoor space includes an amphitheater-style area for live music, a 20-foot LED TV screen, and shade provided by 62 preserved trees and 30 newly planted native trees. Free parking is available across three lots.

“The Grove brings new life and a fresh start to the Monday Night Brewing space that started it all. Thirteen years ago, we moved into an abandoned warehouse on a dead-end street and created an inviting taproom amidst a beer production space. West Midtown has been our home ever since, so we want this to be an everyday experience—a space to connect with friends, meet new people, and enjoy fresh beer, great food, and good vibes.” – Co-Founder Joel Iverson

Monday Night’s original location will now focus on production expansion and private event space.

Look for Monday Night’s The Grove to open by the end of August.

Monday Night Atlanta 404 Lager, a new lower alcohol by volume lager will debut soon from the Atlanta-based brewery.

Monday Night Brewing is prepping a new lager- namely Atlanta 404 Lager, for release in the near future. For context – “404” is Atlanta’s area code. (Think NYC’ s famous 212 area code.)

Monday Night opening Charlotte taproom in 2023

Atlanta-based Monday Night Brewing has announced their fifth taproom location, slated for Charlotte, North Carolina in 2023.

The new taproom, located at 2217 S. Tryon Street, is already under construction. Providence Group Capital (PGC) acquired the location – a former auto shop, in February 2021. The 8,500 square foot building on 1.13 acres is being overhauled into a food hall, with Monday Night being one of the first tenant announcements.

“The South End is an incredibly exciting locale to debut our broad beer portfolio in the great state of North Carolina. Not only is Charlotte our fifth taproom, but North Carolina is also the fourth state we’ll be expanding our distribution to. We are thrilled to join the beer scene and community in North Carolina, which we have long admired. ” – Jeff Heck, Monday Night CEO

The burgeoning South End of Charlotte is already home to Wooden Robot, Hopfly Brewing, Resident Culture, Triple C, Sycamore Brewing, The Suffolk Punch, and Trolley Barn Fermentory & Food Hall.

Monday Night opened their production facility in Atlanta’s Westside area in 2011. Since then, the brewery has built a wild ale facility in Atlanta’s West End, as well as the Monday Night Social Club in Birmingham, AL, and Monday Night Preservation Co. in Nashville, TN.

Monday Night Saint Monday blesses the market this week

Monday Night Saint Monday, a new seasonal Helles lager debuts for the first time this week.

This lighter alcohol by volume beer (4.4%) is designed to be a “recovery beer” of sorts, after a full weekend of boozing. The beer’s name “Saint Monday” refers to the tradition of being “absent” on Monday. We are assuming to recover from drinking or to continue drinking. As a cultural reference, Saint Monday is documented back to the 18th Century in England. Even Benjamin Franklin referenced Saint Monday in his autobiography.

Monday Night has made a lot of fun and experimental beers lately, but brewmaster Peter Kylie wanted to take a run at German traditional style like the Helles Lager. Saint Monday is brewed with German Pilsner and Munich malts, as well as German Hallertau and Czech Saaz hops. The brewers put a strong focus on matching the water chemistry of southern Germany.

Spicy and floral notes culminate in a clean, bready, and dare we say benevolent finish.

Monday Night Saint Monday is available in 12-ounce cans and draft the week of November 8th.

Style: Helles Lager
Hops: Hallertau Mittlefruh, Saaz
Malts: Pilsner, Munich

Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft. Seasonal Release.
Distribution: GA, TN, AL. All taprooms.

4.4% ABV
