Firestone Walker teams up with Creature Comforts, creates ‘Mother’s Milk’

Firestone Walker debuts a new collaboration this weekend with Athens, Georgia based Creature Comforts in Paso Robles, California.

Every beer collaboration is born out of friendship and mutual respect for one another’s brewing passions. In this case, the fermented love spans 2,000 miles. Introducing Firestone Walker / Creature Comforts Mother’s Milk.

The base beer is a milk stout that has been aging for nearly a year in rye whiskey barrels – a very intentional move. According to Eric Ponce, Firestone Walker’s barrel program manager, the sweetness of bourbon barrels would have been too cloying. “We designed the base beer with the intent of aging it in rye whiskey barrels—we thought it would be the perfect marriage. The dash of salt just makes everything pop on the palate,” he explains in a recent press release.

Mother’s Milk will be available to all attendees of this weekend’s Firestone Walker Invitational. 12-ounce bottles will be available at the brewery on June 2nd.

Style: Milk Stout (w/ Sea Salt. Lactose. Barrel Aged. Rye Whiskey.)
Hops:
Malts: Two-Row, Munich, Chocolate, Franco-Belges Kiln Coffee, Crystal 45, Oats

Availability: 12oz Bottles. Limited Release
Debut: 6/2/18

Creature Comforts Reclaimed Rye finally debuts in cans

Creature Comforts Reclaimed Rye will (finally) debut in cans year-round on February 17th.

Reclaimed Rye has been a year-round offering by Athens, Georgia brewery basically since they opened their doors. The amber ale is brewed with rye malt and nuanced with a touch of French oak. The brewery teased the artwork two years ago this month, and finally after expansions, building a second production facility, Reclaimed Rye will finally be available in cans.

A uniquely complex and flavorful amber ale. French oak and rye malt lend to a well-rounded body with delicate undertones of toasted bread, spice, and subtle vanilla. We set out to show a new light onto the amber style with this beer and to reclaim it back from the ordinary. Easy to drink with friends at the pub, or just as good as a companion contemplating the stars, Reclaimed Rye is a collection of familiar voices singing a new harmony.

Creature Comforts Reclaimed Rye joins Athena and Tropicalia, and Bibo Pilsner in their year-round canned lineup. The designs are the brainchild of creative genius Kim Kirby of Young Athenians.

Style: Rye Beer (Oak Aged.)
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft. Year-Round

Boulevard Collaboration 7, created with Creature Comforts & Arizona Wilderness

Boulevard Collaboration 7 has officially debuted, a collaboration with Athens, Georgia based Creature Comforts and Gilbert, Arizona’s Arizona Wilderness.

This collaborator series has paired seen the likes of Deschutes Brewery, Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project, Firestone Walker, Cigar City, Ommegang, and Orval. Boulevard Collaboration 7 is the first time a two breweries have been a part of the project at the same time.

The trio is creating a “juicy” lager for this seventh iteration, aged briefly on virgin oak. Juicy is an understating term, thanks to peach puree, lemon zest and riesling chosen to compliment carefully selected Nelson Sauvin, Lemondrop and Hallertau Blanc hops. The malt bill is quite complex too, brewed with pale malt, Sonoran White Wheat, Missouri wheat, honey malt and corn grits.

The finished beer is bottle conditioned with champagne yeast, producing an effervescent golden lager perfect for the late summer heat. Last year, Arizona Wilderness and Creature Comforts partnered on “Transmission“, a citrus saison.

Boulevard Collaboration 7 is now available in 12 ounce bottles and draft for a limited time.
