Allagash Brewing is releasing Old HLT on March 31, 2012.     The beer has been aged in stainless steel for 2 years with cherries.  HLT stands for Hot Liquor Tank.  The brewery aged the beer in a decommissioned HLT.

Each year, Allagash Brewing’s Fluxus is different. This is the 2012 edition. Brewed with spelt and uses the same yeast strain as De Dolle.

That is exactly what Fluxus is — a beer of continuous change.  2009 was saison with sweet potatoes, black pepper and extra hops.  2010, an imperial stout brewed with cacoa nibs.  2011, French-style farmhouse ale. 2012 brings you an ale with green & pink peppercorns.

Style:  Belgian Strong Ale  (w/ Peppercorns)

Allagash Yakuza Ale Hits In May

Allagash Yakuza AleAllagash Brewing’s new Yakuza Ale is the brewery’s tripel, dry hopped with Sorachi Ace and Cascade hops.   It is a draft only offering by the Portland, Maine based brewery.  The real Yakuza, is a Japanese criminal organization based in Japan.  They’ve been known to have as many as 90,000 members.  This beer is less on the crime, more on the hops.

Style: Tripel
Availability: Draft only.  Also in cask editions

Allagash’s “Neighborhood Collaboration”

Allagash Prince Tuesday. “A Neighborhood Collaboration Ale.”    This beer is a collaboration done with Maine Brewing and Rising Tide Brewing.  The hoppy rye beer is fermented with an Allagash house yeast.  Brewed for a good cause too – the proceeds from the brew will benefit Portland Trails, a non profit that supports green space.

Allagash Black is a Belgian style stout brewed with 2 Row barley, torrified wheat, oats, both roasted and chocolate malt and a generous portion of dark caramelized candi sugar. The silky mouth feel is a great balance to the roasted character, coffee and dark chocolate notes expressed throughout this beer.

Style: Belgian Style Stout

Allagash Old HLT Releases 3/31

Allagash Brewing is releasing Old HLT on March 31, 2012.     The beer has been aged in stainless steel for 2 years with cherries.  HLT stands for Hot Liquor Tank.  The brewery aged the beer in a decommissioned HLT.

A release party will be held at the brewery at 9 am.  Beer goes on sale at 10 am.

$10 per bottle, 4 bottle limit.
