Weyerbacher: Carefully Dispose Of Oscar

Weyerbacher Brewing asks that you destroy and remaining Oscar you might have.  Fermentation in the bottle is causing pressure issues. Per the brewery:

If you purchased any bottles of Oscar and you still have not consumed them they need to be very carefully destroyed.  Fermentation has occured in the bottle, which at this point is past its expiration date printed on the bottle, and excess pressure may have developed inside these bottles of old beer.  There is a possibility for these bottles to explode on their own, or if handled roughly.  Please handle gently, cover and wrap with a towel before picking up and dispose of safely.  We realistically don’t expect there to be any of these around anymore as they are past code date, but if you have any and have any problems please contact us at the brewery.

Saint Arnold Celebrates Rice University’s 100th

Brock Wagner, founder of Saint Arnold Brewing attended Rice University.  He was introduced to home brewing while attending the school, eventually leading him to open Saint Arnold.  Seems fitting that he brews up some celebratory beers for the university’s 100 birthday mark.  Rice was founded in 1912 in Houston, Texas.  The private school enriches the mind of around 6,000 students a year.  Looks like there are 2 editions of this beer to be brewed – Centenni*Ale Blonde, and Cenntenni*Ale Dark.

Availability: 22oz bombers

Lost Abbey Adding Fermenters

Lost Abbey is expanding a bit to meet demand.  Next week they are expecting more fermenters, and grain silos.

As part of that expansion we recently moved fermenters 7 and 8 (aka: “Heaven” and “Hell” since that’s what had to be moved to get them into the brewhouse) into our production area next door in anticipation of the arrival of a couple more big fermenters in the next few weeks. Tomme’s also made mention of acquiring a couple of new grain silos which will prevent us from running our current one dry each week (it’s hard to make beer when you have no malt).

Moving “Heaven” for more beer

All this new equipment will allow us to keep ramping up production and eliminate some of the off and on shortages we’ve been experiencing. And while there’s no expansion of our distribution territories planned just yet, who knows – 2012 could present some new opportunities for us.

Bruery Bringing Black Orchard, Snicklefritz

The Bruery is bringing back Black Orchard today.  Orchard was one of The Bruery’s launch beers.  A black wheat beer flavored with chamomile.

We will also be re-releasing Black Orchard! Some of you may remember this beer as it was part of our original lineup and is now just a member of the retired collection of “Orchard” beers. Somewhat similar to Orchard White, this one is a 5.7% ABV Belgian-style black wheat beer, or “black wit”, if you will. This dark but surprisingly light bodied beer is very drinkable while still having character and complexity. Chamomile is added for its floral aroma, while the coriander and citrus peel give the characteristics of a traditional witbier. Those great brews will be on all weekend, so come in and get a pint or two!

Snicklefritz just got upgraded to the Provisions series.   Snickel was the Pro-Am entry at GABF ’09, created with TAPS fish-house brewer Kyle Manns.

Belgian strong pale ale is spiced with cardomom, ginger, juniper berries and coriander, along with fresh lemon, orange, grapefruit and tangerine zests. After fermentation, the already complex concoction was aged on oak cubes to add one more layer of flavor.  9.5% ABV

Also tomorrow, The Bruery is offering reserve bottles, for tasting room consumption only.   Feel free to drool here.   Reserve Bottle List website.
