AltaToro Atlanta: Midtown’s Bold New Latin Tapas Experience

Last night was fun. Real fun.

Foodies and cocktail enthusiasts, please take me back to last night. It was the media preview for AltaToro, the modern Latin tapas haven that’s about to set Midtown Atlanta on fire. Perched at 33 Peachtree Place NE, this K5 Hospitality spot — the team powering 5Church Atlanta — is swinging open its doors on June 15, blending the cuisines of Peru, Argentina, Mexico, and Spain into a dining adventure that keeps Atlanta’s food scene among the most exciting in the South.

After stepping in off a mini red carpet, you’re enveloped in pure spectacle: a towering 20-foot tree sculpture commands the space, walls burst with custom artwork, and upcoming weekend live fire shows plus Flamenco performances promise to turn every meal into a showstopper. This place screams date night already. But the real stars? An innovative tapas menu and cocktails that elevate Latin American dining to great heights.

Cocktail standouts include the Amazon Reign (gin with pink peppercorn syrup for a fresh twist), La Llorona (Illegal Mezcal and Aperol with a smoky finish), and the highly theatrical El Codigo — Al Pastor-washed Peloton de la Muerte Mezcal, Pineapple, Triple Sec, Lime, and an Ancho Tequila float that you have to see to believe. Local beers round things out with Terrapin Los Bravos and SweetWater 420 on the list.

The food is bold, colorful, and unapologetically ambitious — zesty ceviches, a family-style lechon asado built for four (cilantro rice, frijoles fritos, maduros, homemade tortillas, salsa verde, chimichurri, and habanero-onion escabeche), seafood paella, and empanadas, all made with locally sourced ingredients that make each dish feel both authentic and contemporary.

For anyone searching for a standout restaurant in Midtown Atlanta, AltaToro’s preview has us fully hyped for the grand opening. Strong bonus tip — plan a visit for Wine Wednesday’s half-off bottles, or hit brunch for $3 mimosas and sangrias.

The evening delivered fire dancers, theatrical cocktails, and some of the most colorful, beautiful drinks we’ve seen in Atlanta lately. Welcome to the city, AltaToro.
