Tallgrass 8 Bit Pale, & The Coolest Beer Video To Date…

Easily one of the coolest beer promo videos I’ve ever seen.  Tallgrass Brewing just released 8-Bit Pale Ale this week.  Sadly, not ever drinker on BSJ will remember or know what 8-Bit is or have ever owned an original Nintendo for that matter.  (Dude, I’m not old either, but I had one.)

Not only is the artwork badass, but the video just makes this whole beer approach that much cooler.  This is just the teaser trailer.  A longer video (and video game!!)  to follow…

From the PR:
8-Bit Pale Ale is the latest release from Tallgrass Brewing Company and the brewery’s first infused offering. 8-Bit is a traditional American Pale Ale that is “hop-rocketed” using Australian Galaxy Hops at the end of the brewing cycle, giving the beer a massive dose of hops flavor.

While Tallgrass was putting the finishing touches on Velvet Rooster, the world’s first Belgian-style Tripel in a can, they sent out a survey to ask their fans what kind of beer they should brew next. 500 fans responded and the overwhelming request: a super-hoppy pale ale. 8-Bit Pale Ale is the answer to that plea.

Style: Pale Ale
Availability: 16oz Cans

5.2% ABV

Tallgrass Oasis Imperial ESB Cans

Tallgrass Oasis Imperial ESB CansTallgrass Brewing Oasis ESB.

Per Tallgrass:

Oasis is a Double ESB/IPAish beer that came about from playing around with one of Jeff’s favorite homebrew recipes.  Here at Tallgrass we love malt and we love hops, and this beer has both of them in record quantities; well, at least records for our baby brewery.

At a hefty 7.2% ABV and 93 IBU, Oasis is a big beer that has to be priced a bit higher than our regular line of beers.  We think that once you taste the over-the-top hops and surprisingly sturdy malt backbone you will realize why it’s worth it.

Definitely not a fruit-extract seasonal shandy, this beer is meant to be enjoyed on the back porch, the front porch, or even on the stoop.  What’s a stoop?  Well, it’s a good place to drink beer, is what it is.

Style: ESB
Availability: 16 oz cans, Draft

7.2 % ABV, 93 IBUs

Velvet Rooster = Belgian Tripel In A Can

Tallgrass Brewing just starting shipping Velvet Rooster, touted to be the first Belgian tripel in a can.   It was only a matter of time.  Beer is obviously exploding in the United States, giving way new styles seeing an aluminum home over it’s glass counterpart.

Andrew Hood, our head brewer, put together this amazing brew as his first test batch when he came to Tallgrass. I tasted it and wanted to can it that day,” said Tallgrass founder Jeff Gill. “Traditionally, Belgian-style Tripels take themselves very seriously, but we just couldn’t do that. We had to give it our Tallgrass-twist, and Velvet Rooster was born.

Style: Tripel
Flavor?  Light fruits, sweet malts, floral flavors.  Touch of booze, & very effervescent according to the brewery.
Availability: 16oz can 4pks.  Tallgrass currently distributes to parts of CO, SD, KS, AK, OK, AR, AL, MI, KY, OH, VA, PA, D.C., IL, ND, MN

8.5% ABV
