Left, right or center, this Congressman Peter Defazio has a great message Rogue Brewery and the craft beer drinking nation. Something good just came out of Washington D.C.
Rogue Blurs Two Beer Styles (Sorta)
Finally, a beer that doesn’t try to be one thing AND another at the same time. This new label from Rogue Ales (Newport, OR) basically tells you how it is. The brewery has produced a barleywine (Old Crustacean) in the past, just as it has made IPAs. So what do you do when you have a beer that seems to be both? You call it how it is – New Crustacean Barleywineish Imperial India Pale Ale Sorta.
On board yet? A beer that defies all traditonal definitions doesn’t need a name that does so right? Just like in nature, this beer is a cross between an imperial IPA and a barleywine, while not really being either. It’s like the platypus off beer. Called a “cult favorite” in the brewpub, Rogue is looking to bottle this and let you sort it out for yourself. Sorta.
Style: A little bit of Barleywine, a little bit of IPA

Beard Beer is Coming [VIDEO]
Just in case you forgot about Beard Beer, there is more coming soon. Rogue’s experiment in taking yeast from head brewer John Maier’s beard was a success with said yeast strain becoming the official microbe of Oregon. The question is, will you drink a beer made with yeast taken from a man’s beard?
Rogue Farms to Release Honey Kolsch
Get ready for a new home-grown brew from Rogue Ales. Rogue Farms Honey Kolsch will launch this summer nationwide. This brew was made with honey grown and harvested at the Rogue Farms Hopyard. Earlier this year they grew their Apiary (bee farm) to over 100 colonies so that the little guys can buzz around the farm sampling everything from blackberries, raspberries, and cherries to woodruff, lavendar, pumpkins, rye, and corn. The new population will produce the nearly 5,000 pounds of honey used in each batch of the new Honey Kolsch.

Dear Elvis, Rogue VooDoo Doughnut Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Ale
Rogue’s second VooDoo Doughnut beer should be popping up at your favorite beer spots shortly if not already. VooDoo Doughnut Chocolate, Peanut butter, and Banana Ale is the latest tribute to Portland’s Voo Doo Doughnut Shop, which features specialty doughnuts such as a maple bacon bar (which inspired Rogue’s first beer, Maple Bacon Porter), doughnuts with Captain Crunch on top, and doughnuts dipped in everything from bubblegum dust to tang. After the original Maple Bacon Porter receiving mixed reviews, let’s hope that this crazy concoction pleases the palate. Below is the donut the beer is inspired by…
