NEW RELEASE: Peak Brewing Simcoe Spring Ale

The newest seasonal from Peak Organic Brewing Company is now arriving on shelves.  This spring offering by the brewery is a pale ale obviously featuring a beer geek favorite hop – the mighty simcoe.  The simcoe hops were grown organically by a brewery friend in Washington state.  It’s the 4th edition of the seasonal releases by Peak.

From Peak:
It’s a classic pale ale, single-hopped and dry-hopped with Simcoe hops, which provide unique pine and apricot notes.  Cold fermenting gives the beer a crisp, dry finish, so the hops really pop.  It’s been an honor working with our friends and farmers Jason, Brad, Patrick, Darren, Mike and Pat to bring these incredible new hop varieties to life in an organically-grown, pure format.

Style: American Pale Ale

Taste Expectations: Big simcoe hop nose,  citrusy, clean. Hop flavor is bright with a nice hop finish.

Availability: 12oz/6pks.  Draft. Spring seasonal.

5.2% ABV

COMING SOON: Peak Brewing King Crimson

Peak Organic Brewing Company is set to add 22oz bombers to their lineup in 2011.  Apart from a special edition release, this is the first wide release bombers by the growing brewing company.  The first bombers will hold “King Crimson” an imperial red ale previously only found on draft.

King Crimson was first brewed commerically 2 years ago in small batch for festivals.  The next brew expanded the release of Crimson to tap handles only.  This next brewing of King Crimson will be both draft AND 22 oz bottles as this beer grows in popularity.  This year’s release is also the first time this beer has been shipped outside of New England.

Description from Rob Lucente, owner of Peak:
This beer is full of American west coast fruity hops. Lots of Simcoe in the dry hop.  King Crimson has a classic west coast chico yeast strain which gives it a nice dry finish. This King is roasty & toasty with a great malty backbone.

Style: Red Ale (Imperial)

Arrival: Late February, 2011.

This unique India Pale Ale features our favorite hops–Simcoe®, Amarillo® and Nugget. A generous Amarillo and Simcoe dry hop provide for an assertive, hop-forward nose and front palate. NEW RELEASE: Peak Brewing Winter Session

New from Peak Organic Brewing Company (Portland, ME) is their latest seasonal, Winter Session.  Inspired by the Peak’s popular summer release – Summer Session Winter Session is just as tasty.   It’s a wheat ale, with a darker malt profile.  Instead of using amarillo hops, brewer Jon Cadeaux used the new, popular citra hops.

Quoting Rob Lucente:
This winter wheat ale uses unique malting methods (midnight malting, to be precise) to create a toasty, complex body. Dry hopping with the Citra hops provides pineapple notes which goes fantastically with the toastiness of the malts. We are very excited about this offering, and believe it will continue the success we have seen this year with our Seasonals.

Style: Winter Wheat Ale

Taste Expectations: Citra hops give this ale a pineapple, tropical fruit taste.  Wheat malt softens the mouthfeel.  It’s flavorful, & easy drinking.

Availability: 12oz/6pks.  Draft.  Some cask offerings.
