Biloxi Blonde Is Back

Biloxi Blonde Beer, formerly brewed by Coast Brewing, is being brought back to life by Lazy Magnolia Brewing Co.  Biloxi Blonde was a victim of Hurricane Katrina.  Not only was the beer and the brewing equipment destroyed in the storm, but so was the recipe.

The Beau Rivage Resort & Casino has teamed up with Lazy Magnolia Brewing Co. to bring you a new interpretation of the lost beer.  Lazy Magnolia head brewer, Gar Hatcher, had tasted Biloxi Blonde years ago and used that as his inspiration for recreating the beer.Biloxi Blonde is a German-style Kolsch that gets its name from its color.  It is brewed with both European malts and Pilsner malts.  The brew will be available both in bottle and draft, initially only at The Beau Rivage and sister property Gold Strike.  Eventually the goal is to roll it out to all MGM properties across the country.

Lazy Mag Releases More Bourbon Pecan

Lazy Magnolia Southern GentlemanAs Lazy Magnolia begins expanding, they also just recently announced there will be more Southern Gentleman shipping soon.  The brewery has recently purchased more barrels to produce more.

Lazy Mag took their Pecan ale, and aged it in bourbon barrels for nearly 3 months.  (what barrels cannot be disclosed, MS law) What the brewery has to say:

It brings everything that we like about beer and bourbon together in a special way.  The aroma of bourbon fills the nose, the vanilla from the oak rounds out the finish, and the extra months of aging soften and dry out that Southern Pecan we love so much.  In the end, the beer is about as perfect as it can be.

Style: Brown Age (barrel aged)
Availability: Draft only.  Newest batch just released.

4.5% ABV

Lazy Magnolia Expands

Lazy Magnolia (Kiln, MS) has starting expanding, kicking into high gear in December, 2011.  The expansion breaks down like this:

1. New Structure for the facility, over 2x the current size.

2. New brewhouse – 2x the current capacity.  (Brewery currently uses 2 smaller brewhouses)

The expansion will not only result in more barrels per year, but allow for different styles to be brewed.

Stats, & expansion numbers to follow…

New Markets:

Only part of Georgia (Not Atlanta) has seen Lazy Magnolia beers over the past year.  Starting in November, the lineup will be expanded into the metro area, and the rest of the state.   Texas, looks to the be next distribution stop for the brewery.

Here We Grow Again!

You may have heard through the grapevine, that we have started our expansion.  We owe a great deal of gratitude to all of our fans.  It’s your appreciation for what we are doing here in Mississippi that is letting us brew more beer.  Nobody believed us when we said Mississippians were ready for Craft Beer.  We appreciate you helping to prove all of “them” wrong!
Our real expansion plans will start this December and continue through next year.  We have two big projects: building a new structure for our facility (more than double our current size) and installing a single brew house with twice the capacity of the 2 we currently use.  The new space, in addition to improving our production process, will also allow us to give improved brewery tours.  Those of you that have been here for a tour know how much fun they are now!

We are excited about how much better with our new Brewery Experience Center and we are working on a new history project that will be the new tour’s focal point.
The new brew-house is going to not only help us make more beer, but better beer! Once installed, we will can finally start creating beers we have never enjoyed the opportunity brew, expanding on our currently brands for all you fans out there.  With the increase in production there will also be job opportunities, and we are always looking for great people to join our team.  Be sure to keep an eye out for job postings on our website over the next year.
