Dogfish Head Beer For Breakfast (Brewed with pork scrapple) debuts

Dogfish Head Beer For Breakfast bottle

Dogfish Head Beer for Breakfast, the brewery’s essential breakfast beer, has been released in bottles.

You’ve heard of breakfast beers before. Typically it’s a stout brewed with coffee. Perhaps oats. Maybe even a little milk sugar (lactose). Yeah, Dogfish Head could do that too, but hey- that’s not very off-centered is it? This beer needs that little something extra. Bacon? Orange Juice? Nope. Scrapple.

If you aren’t from the northeast, strap in. Let us explain scrapple. It’s breakfast meat, akin to sausage. Scrapple is pork scraps seasoned with spices and held together with corn meal. The brewery uses Rapa Scrapple. Some of the best you can get. This is just the beginning of what this stout looks like.

Dogfish Head Beer For Breakfast has a long list of ingredients. The most important meal of the day looks like this:

  • Maple syrup from the trees at Northfield Mount Hermon High School (Sam Calagione met his wife there)
  • Barley smoked over applewood
  • Roasted Chicory
  • Lactose (milk sugar)
  • Guatemalan Antigua cold press coffee
  • Scrapple from Rapa’s Scrapple.

Dogfish Head Beer for Breakfast is now available in 12 ounce bottles starting November 7th.

Style: Milk Stout (w/ Coffee, Brown Sugar, LactoseMaple SyrupScrapple)
Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft.
Debut (Bottles): November, 2016

7.4% ABV

Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA is officially the brewery’s first can

Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA can

Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA is officially the first can released by the Delaware based brewery.

There is no doubt that can beer is all the rage these days. Recently, Stone Brewing added cans, and Lagunitas tacks on their first can starting in July. Looking at the top small/craft breweries by production in the United States, Sierra Nevada, New Belgium, Bell’s Brewery, Sam Adams, and Yuengling all can at least some of their core and seasonal releases.

As for Dogfish Head, the brewery unveiled revamped artwork across their portfolio at a special event during the Craft Brewer’s Conference in Philadelphia earlier this year.  Tucked ever so discreetly was a teaser of the brewery’s aluminum plans.

“Early on in the craft brewing renascence I was underwhelmed with the canning technology for craft beer…But times have changed, equipment has evolved, and we’ve designed a beautiful, state-of-the-art Krones can line that delivers the quality and consistency our consumers have come to expect from our beer.” – Sam Calagione, Dogfish Head founder and President

The brewery’s flagship 60 Minute IPA (seen above) will officially be the first release, launching in the mid-atlantic states by the middle of November. Expect to see 60 Minute across the brewery’s entire distribution network in 2017.

Hot Artwork: Dogfish Head Punkin Ale 2016

Dogfish Head Punkin Ale 16

Dogfish Head Punkin Ale is back on shelves for the 2016 fall season, donning some hot new artwork.

Debuting in 1995 and now one America’s best selling pumpkin beers; Dogfish Head Punkin is usually the first of its style to sell out each year.

The 2016 artwork is from the imagination of Drew Millward. His illustrations have already graced seasonal Festina Peche, and now Dogfish Head Punkin Ale, and soon – the meat infused Beer for Breakfast. Millward draws “the old fashioned way” in a technology filled world, with pens, pencils and paper.

As for Dogfish Head Punkin Ale, the annual favorite is brewed with pumpkin flesh, as well as brown sugar, and fall-like spices like nutmeg and cinnamon.

A full-bodied brown ale with smooth hints of pumpkin and brown sugar.

The name is inspired by an “off-centered” Delaware tradition dubbed the “Punkin Chunkin” where contestants compete to see how far they can catapult and cannon a pumpkin.

Dogfish Punkin Ale is available in 12oz bottles and draft now through November, 2016

Style: Pumpkin Beer (w/ Brown SugarNutmegAllspiceCinnamon)
Availability: 12oz bottles, Draft

Sierra Nevada Pat-Rye-Ot Revolutionary Pale Ale in May

Sierra Nevada Pat-Rye-Ot Revolutionary Pale Ale

Sierra Nevada Pat-Rye-Ot Revolutionary Pale Ale will be one of the beers in May’s return of Beer Camp Across America.

The last round of Beer Camp Across America in 2014 featured 12 hand-picked breweries that created their own unique beer. In 2016, 30 breweries come together, paired by geographic locations.

Sierra Nevada Pat-Rye-Ot Revolutionary Pale Ale covers the northeast region of the United States – a collaboration with Devil’s Backbone (Virginia), Dogfish Head (Delaware), Lawson’s Finest Liquids (Vermont), Stoudt’s Brewing (Pennsylvania), and Trillium Brewing Company (Massachusetts). For those of you that remember history, all those states were among the 13 originals.

Sierra Nevada Pat-Rye-Ot is an “old-meets-new” take on a pale ale by brewers all located in the original 13 colonies. It features rye and apples, which were among the first ingredients used by American breweries in the colonies, alongside bold American hops-hallmarks of our modern craft beer “revolution.”

Sierra Nevada Pat-Rye-Ot Revolutionary Pale Ale will be a 12 ounce bottle offering in May, a part of the brewery’s Beer Camp Across America 12 pack. The beer will also be featured at the special Beer Camp events across the country.

Style: Pale Ale (w/ Apples)

Release: May, 2016
