Introducing Brooklyn Scorcher #366

A summer pale ale with hops so new they don’t even have a name yet. Get in on the ground level and be a hop hipster with Brooklyn Brewing’s new Scorcher #366. Featuring hops just called HBG 366, this summer pale ale is a little citrusy with piney hop notes in the finish. The hops were cross-bread between Warrior and a “wild” hop back in 2001 and currently take up about 1.2 acres of land in the Yakima Valley of Washington. According to Brooklyn, Scorcher #366 packs the hop character of an IPA, but is sessionable at 4.5% and loves lobster, shrimp, and crayfish.

Style: Pale Ale
Availability: Draft
Arrival: May 2013

Beirut to Brooklyn – 25 Years of History [VIDEO]

In honor of their 25th anniversary this year Brooklyn Brewing is celebrating with a series of videos exploring their history and origins. The first installment was released today featuring Brooklyn co-founder and president Steve Hindy.

“Most craft brewers had a life before beer. Steve Hindy covered wars and assassinations for The AP in the Middle East. Along the way, he met American diplomats in bone-dry Islamic countries whose only source of beer was home-brewing. War correspondents are a resourceful lot, and Steve brought that resourcefulness to starting a brewery in Brooklyn.”

Brooklyn BLAST! Bottles?

Brooklyn Brewing’s Blast! was promoted from the Reserve Series a while back to year round status. The imperial IPA has been a hit. Hop heads love it. By the looks of it, the brewery plans on taking this baby to bottles this year.

We brew our beer in New York, about halfway between the hop fields of the Pacific Northwest and the hop fields of Kent, England. So in the rambunctious IPA we call BLAST! we use earthy English hops to bring the noise. British and German malts brace up a beer that’s beautifully hoppy, strangely quaffable and oddly compelling. You won’t even know what hit you.

Style: Imperial IPA
Availability: Draft (Year round), 12oz bottles, Soon
Arrival: Bottles – TBA
