Blue Point Launching 3 Can Offerings This Month

Blue Point White IPA CansBlue Point Brewing will release 3 beers in cans this month.  The brewery recently inked a can production deal with Latrobe Brewing.    The three offerings are:  Toasted Lager, White IPA, and Summer Ale.

Currently, Blue Point is in the process of releasing White IPA as you’re reading this.  For White IPA, the brewery blended the soft and approachable appeal of a witbier with the approachability of an IPA.  Toasted Lager is a no brainer for cans, as the beer makes up 65% of the brewery’s annual sales.   Summer Ale (a blonde ale) is set to return in May.

Blue Point just entered their 15th state in 15 years this week (Georgia).  However, only 13 states will be receiving the initial orders of the cans.  The brewery has already projected sales numbers in the 13, and it does’t look like there will be enough for Michigan and Georgia.  Those states will get cans later.

Expect cans in 6 packs in 2012.  Blue Point will most likely add 12 packs in 2013.

Galaxy Far, Far Away Has A Beer

Props to a new brew from Blue Point Brewing (Long Island, NY) for show Star Wars never gets old.  (Wait. it has absolutely nothing to do with that movie Mr. Lucas.  The brewers at Blue Point are just fascinated with astronomy.)

Galaxy Far, Far Away Ale is a new draft offering from Blue Point.  Blue Point just expanded a bit back in June

The latest additions to the ever-expanding Blue Point brewhouse are a couple of much-needed big, shiny new tanks. It was a tight squeeze getting the 60-bbl hot liquor tank in place, but she produces more hot water than the brewery needs on a daily basis. Now you can catch a peek through the tasting room window of the guys cleaning and scrubbing like Cinderella getting ready for the ball. (For anyone who would get a kick out of seeing Big Brandon in a gown, we’re thinking about that for the next tasting room event.)

And, it definitely won’t ease all the growing pains around here, but the new 60-bbl fermentor is increasing production by 150 kegs a week or so.

Now, lets hope Long Island can keep their hockey team too. (yeah, theres been talk.)

Blue Point Sour Cherry Imperial Stout

Blue Point Brewing Sour Cherry Imperial Stout.

Truly worthy its majestic name in fluid ounces, our Sour Cherry Imperial Stout is anything but sour. In fact, we have to make sure there’s plenty of it available for Valentine’s Day — after all, nothing says love like chocolates and a Sour Cherry Imperial Stout. This is an extremely complex version of the classic Russian beer style with plenty of roasted, black, and chocolate malts that delivers multi-layered coffee and sherry notes in a surprisingly smooth package. The beer is then matured with just a kiss of real sour red cherries. If you see Sour Cherry Imperial Stout on tap, give it a try — like true love, it’s sometimes hard to find.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ cherries)
Availability: Draft only.  November release.

9% ABV, 67 IBUs

Blue Point Toasted Lager

Blue Point Brewing Toasted Lager.

The best thing to come out of a brick oven since pizza. Well, we’ve upgraded from our original direct-fire brick kettle, but our flagship Toasted Lager still has the same toasted flavor it was named for. Copper in color, our most popular and unique brew is made from six different malts, including English Pale, Crystal, Munich, Carapils, Wheat, and Belgian Caravienna. Toasted Lager’s balanced flavor of malt and hops makes for easy drinking and the special lager yeast we use produces an exceptional, long-lasting smooth finish.

Style: Amber  Lager
Availability: 12 oz bottles, Draft. Cans coming soon

5.5% ABV
