Meet the Brewer/Beer Dinner – Terrapin & SOHO Atlanta!

I have to say I really love it when a restaurant  takes an interest in beer.  For the longest time, most restaurants you would step foot into would have the same 3 or 4 beers you’ve seen on tap a thousand times prior.  Luckily, that situation  is changing.  Beer is evolving.   Many restaurants these days are starting to see the complexity of craft beer, and that food pairing isn’t just for wine anymore.

I got to meet Frank Smith, General Manger of SOHO Restaurant in Vinings last week.   Frank was on the quest for greater beer knowledge, because he wants to expand SOHO’s selection.   In my “professional” opinion, that is a great idea!  While speaking with Frank, he mentioned that SOHO is hosting a beer dinner this Tuesday, with brewer Spike Buckowski in attendance.   If you haven’t met Spike or been to SOHO, I can think of no better time to do both.  Here is the menu —

~ Reception ~

Shrimp Basil Rolls with a Thai Peanut Sauce

Skewered Jerk Chicken topped with a Mango Aioli

* Terrapin Rye Pale Ale *

~ 1st Course ~

Hot Smoked Sockeye Salmon, Salad of Grilled Romain,

Pickled Red Onions, Avocado Vinaigrette

* Terrapin Hopsecutioner *

~ 2nd Course ~

Springer Mountain Chicken Vindaloo, Saffron Basmati Rice

and Raita

* Terrapin Hop Karma Brown Ale *

~ Entree ~

Horseradish Encrusted Berkshire Pork Tenderloin,

Celery Mashed Potatoes, Fava Beans, Rye Squared Molasses

* Terrapin Rye Squared *

~ Dessert ~

Red Velvet and Homemade Marshmallow Moon Pie

with a Mini Godiva Chocolate Malted Milk Shake

* Terrapin Side Project *

Sound delicious? Thought so.  The dinner is $42 plus tax/tip. Call 770.801.0069 for Reservations. Time isn’t on the info I received, I’ll post when I find out.

MEET THE BREWER! Patrick Rue of The Bruery

Brickstore Pub is giving you are rare opportunity to meet a brewer.  Patrick Rue, co- founder of The Bruery, Placentia, California will be headed to Brickstore Pub on Monday February 22nd for a beer dinner with Leon’s.

If you haven’t been properly introduced, from a previous post about The Bruery –

Founded out of the love of homebrewing, The Bruery basically started on a stove. Patrick Rue, his brother Chris and wife Rachel created an “amber” ale while Patrick was a first year law student. Over time the love of brewing couldn’t be held back any longer, and their life long goal was set.

The name “Bruery” is a meld of the word brewery with the family name “Rue.” All beers are unfiltered and unpasteurized. All carbonation is through bottle conditioning through secondary fermentation.

Patrick will be in town for one evening for this dinner collaboration with Brickstore/Leon’s.  The dinner will contain 5 courses paired with The Bruery’s beers.  There is some hope that Patrick will bring something special to share.  (Fingers crossed.)

The dinner will run you $65 dollars a person plus tax & gratuity.   The dinner is RSVP only!!  To reserve a spot, send an email to Michael “AT” brickstorepub DOT com.   Include your name, number of guests, and your phone number.

See you at the Pub!
