New to cans: Birdsong Paradise City

Birdsong Paradise City

Birdsong Paradise City debuts in cans April 1st. The first year-round beer to join the brewery’s lineup since 2012.

Billed as a “session IPA”, Paradise City features Cascade, Chinook, Amarillo and Idaho 7 hops. The IPA is on the lower side of the boozy spectrum, just 4.8% alcohol by volume, and big on citrusy flavors.

Paradise City is a medium body, crisp IPA with lots of upfront hop aromas. It’s forward on the tangerine & citrusy side with a little hint of more complex piney notes.

Assistant brewer Jeff Bowman designed the recipe for Birdsong Paradise City. Available in 16 ounce cans starting Saturday.

Malts: Carapils, Wheat, C40, Oats

Full Sail Session Lager moves to cans

Full Sail Session Lager cans

Full Sail Session Lager is making a move to cans. One of America’s original session beers is about to go anywhere.

The “stubby” bottles you’ve seen for years are downright iconic now. The perfect session beer has a perfect, palm size bottle, but glass has its limitations. When you see that bottle, you think Full Sail.

As much as we love Full Sail Session Lager at Beer Street Journal, but when pool season rolls around bottles get benched. Not this summer. After 12 years you”ll finally be reaching for a Session can. The best part? The coveted 15 packs.

“It’s the same award-winning lager, but now in a can. It feels as good in the hand as the iconic stubby, and it will go places where the bottle couldn’t.” Full Sail Brewmaster Jim Kelter

Warm weather is just around the corner (if you don’t have it already.) Full Sail Session Lager cans aren’t far behind.

Style: Lager
Availability: 12oz Cans, 12oz Bottles, Draft.
Debut (Cans): March, 2017

5.1% ABV, 18 IBUs

Bell’s Oatsmobile Ale will be canned this spring

Bell's Oatsmobile Can 2

Bell’s Oatsmobile Ale, launched in April, will be canned in Spring, 2017. This was the first year-round addition since 2010.

Bell’s Oatsmobile Ale, as the name suggests, is brewed with malted oats. The brewery states that the oat addition lends the beer a body you don’t alway get in a session pale ale. The oats plus a dry-hop bill of Mosaic, Citra, and Amarillo makes what Bell’s hopes is a standout low alcohol by volume beer.

“This beer is unique. Aromatics may drive it, but the signature ingredient – oats – are what really makes this beer stand apart and also where the name comes from. It’s approachable and intriguing with a fun personality,” said Bell’s Vice President, Laura Bell.

Bell’s Oatsmobile Ale is currently available in 12 ounce bottles and draft across the brewery’s entire network. 12 ounce cans will be available in the coming spring.

Style: Pale Ale
Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft. Year-Round
Debut: April, 2016
Cans: Spring, 2017

4.3% ABV

New Belgium Dayblazer Easygoing Ale

New Belgium Dayblazer Easygoing Ale, a future can potential from the Colorado/North Carolina based brewery.

Not a lot of details are known yet on Dayblazer, other than that the branding is a bit of a departure from a lot of the brewery’s on-going artwork. Additionally, there are artwork variants that include a 12 ounce can and a 24 ounce can. A 24 oz can will be a completely new can size for New Belgium.

New Belgium Dayblazer, aka “Easygoing Ale” will be a 4.8% alcohol by volume beer. The brewery has not yet announced this beer.

SweetWater Hash Session IPA: year round & 15 packs

SweetWater Hash Session IPA can

SweetWater Hash Session IPA launched in February this year. The popular was nearly instantaneou. The fan love has prompted the brewery to make it a year-round offering.

Today the brewery is launching 15-packs of Hash Session, headed for retailers next week. For those times with a 12-pack just won’t due. The low alcohol by volume India pale ale features Amarillo hops hash, good for all day drinking.

Cooling out on the dock, jamming tunes and popping tops, wait for da rod to bend. Gist of the grist is mellow at 4.2%, laying down the base to showcase the blazin’ Amarillo hop hash sunset.

NoDa Brewing Par 4 Session IPA

Noda Brewing Par 4 can

NoDa Brewing Par 4 Session IPA is the brewery’s rendition of the “session” IPA.

Despite being low in alcohol by volume this beer is most definitely big in flavor. it’s hoppy and clean (like you’d expect). Those in love with the India pale ale will be right at home with this session beer.

Stay in the zone with a low ABV beer that still packs robust flavor and mouthfeel. Brewed with nearly four pounds of hops per barrel and mashed with oats, Par 4 has a smooth and balanced body to even out the payload delivered by a bouquet of select West Coast hops.

NoDa Brewing Par 4 is a great addition to the brewery’s lineup this year. The once NoDable Series beer was an instant hit when released on tap in summer, 2015. Plus, the awesome Caddyshack reference in the artwork doesn’t hurt.

Style: IPA
Availability: 16oz Cans, Draft. Season release.
Debut (Cans): Spring, 2016
