AleSmith Decadence 2016, a rotating style and birthday beer for the brewery is hitting shelves.
2005 was the first release of Alesmith Decadence, brewed to celebrate the first 10 years in business. Each year since, the brewers create their own special recipe for the celebratory release.
AleSmith Decadence 2016 is inspired by Anchor Brewing’s Steam Beer, dating back to 1971. The style is known elsewhere as a California common.
AleSmith created an imperial Cali common for the occasion. Keeping stylistically sound, the brewery fermented a lager at warmer ale temperatures. The process causes the yeast to different flavors than if fermented colder. Per the brewery, the resulting beer is “a combination of fruity, mineral-like flavors, borne from the lager yeast esters.” Interestingly, this is the only time AleSmith has ever brewed this beer.
AleSmith Decadence 2016 is available in 750 milliliter bottles and draft.

Anchor Brewing Company (San Francisco, CA) has teamed up with the Chris Robinson Brotherhood to create Brotherhood Steam Beer.
Brotherhood Steam Beer is based off of Anchor’s flagship offering Steam, dry-hopped with Citra and Nelson Sauvin hops. The combination is something completely unique.
The result is a copper color brew with aromatic hints of citrus and mint, a smooth, full-bodied malt flavor with a lingering, fresh hop finish.
Chris Robinson Brotherhood is an American blues band formed by Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes. The Crowes are on indefinite hiatus.
Brotherhood Steam Beer will be available at select Chris Robinson Brotherhood shows, and in 12oz cans nationwide this December. This is the second canned offering by Anchor.
Style: Steam Beer
Availability: 12oz Cans, Limited Draft.
Arrival: December, 2014
About every three months, Saint Arnold Brewing Company (Houston, TX) releases a new offering the “Icon” series. For this release, the brewery chose to honor Anchor Brewing’s Steam, and California common style beers with a “Texas Common.”
Saint Arnold Texas Common is a slightly hoppier take on the style, fermented with “San Francisco Lager” yeast.
Our Texas Common is a red amber beer that holds a nice creamy head with an aroma full of tropical fruit. The flavor starts with a pleasant combination of fruit and malt and then goes to a long, dry bitter with just a hint of malt hanging on all the way.
Saint Arnold Icon Texas Common is available in 12oz bottles, and draft for a limited time.
Style: California Common
Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft
6.7% ABV, 52 IBUs
To say New Belgium Brewing (Fort Collins, CO) is outdoorsy is an understatement. They live the outdoors. That’s why a collaboration with Patagonia makes complete sense.
This new organic California common is a celebration of 40 years of “fun hogging” as New Belgium puts it. California Route embodies the spirit of the outdoors, in a package that does well by the earth. Cans.
