Coney Island Freaktoberfest, Completely Changed

Shmaltz Brewing Co. sold off the Coney Island line to Alchemy, a subsidiary of Samuel Adams last year. Distribution has been pulled back to basically New York, and the beer recipes, overhauled.

Coney Island Freaktoberfest used to be a “blood” red lager with a 6.66% ABV. This fall, it’s going pumpkin. Freaktoberfest 2014 will be a pumpkin ale brewed with spices and espresso beans from Cafe Grumpy in Brooklyn.

Freaktoberfest is a hauntingly complex, deep amber, pumpkin and espresso ale. Caramel aromas intermingle with hints of allspice and cinnamon. A roasted, rich body is highlighted by Brooklyn’s own Cafe Grumpy’s specially selected espresso beans, and is finished with sweet pumpkin.

Coney Island Freaktoberfest will be available in 12oz bottles, and presumably draft. Coney Island just released a new seasonal, Tunnel of Love Watermelon Wheat.

Style: Pumpkin Ale (w/ Espresso)
Availability: 12oz Bottles
Arrival: Fall, 2014

  1. Of course. After the original Freaktoberfest sat on shelves until it was out of code, they make it a product that will fly off shelves, but is only in one state. How unfortunate.
