Not All Flying Dog Brewhouse Rarities Are Draft Only

Just 2 weeks ago, BSJ mentioned that Flying Dog Brewing was adding Disobedience Abbey Dubbel to the Brewhouse Rarities series.  The Rarities releases are/were limited to draft only offerings around the Mid-Atlantic region.  Looks like one will get a little bottle treatment too – Disobedience Abbey Dubbel.   Disobedience is brewed with maple syrup.

Foothills Barrel Aged People’s Porter Coming To Bottles

This is not the first time that Foothills Brewing (Winston-Salem, NC) has released Bourbon Barrel Aged Porter.  It will however, be the first time that Foothill’s Brewing will have released it in bottles.  BBL Aged People’s Porter has been available on tap at various releases, include Olde Rabbit’s Foot, & Barrel Aged Sexual Chocolate.  The base beer is of course People’s Porter, a robust English style porter with notes of unsweetened chocolate and espresso.

People’s Porter aged in 20 year old bourbon barrels.  This gold medal winning robust porter has a dark, ruby hue, and complex chocolate, caramel and toffee notes.Read the rest

Sam Adams To Announce 26.2 Brew This Thursday

Boston Beer will be unveiling Samuel Adams Boston 26.2 at a special new conference on Thursday at the brewery in Boston.    It is expected that the announcement will surround a partnership with the Boston Athletic Association, hosts of the Boston Marathon.

Details about the beer will be disclosed on Thursday, but according to a local Sam Adams rep, the new beer will be suitable for runners and watchers a like.  A lighter bodied, lower alcohol brew.   26.2 is brewed with coriander and salt.… Read the rest

From Jester King Brewing’s limited release collection – Mad Meg.   The beer has just debuted on draft, and will soon hit bottles.

“Provision Ale” is a rough translation of the French term “bière de provision“, which was sometimes used to describe special beers that were suitable for extended storage and aging. Brewed from relatively simple, straightforward ingredients, Mad Meg is golden colored and quite strong, at over 9% ABV. Oskar Blues & Sun King Create “Chaka”

Oskar Blues (Lyon, CO) and Sun King Brewing (Indianapolis, IN) are brewing up a new can collaboration – Chaka.  The beer will be a Belgian style ale with ingredients from both states.  Shagbark hickory syrup will be added from Indiana, and Belgian pale malt from Colorado malting.  Dave Colt from Sun King and Dave Chichura from Oskar Blues have been friends for years.  They met when Colt was working at Circle V Brewing in Indiana.

According to Hoosier Beer Geek, Chaka will be brewed this spring, debuting at the Craft Brewer’s Conference in May.   Oskar Blues & Sun King will brew an edition of Chaka.  Interestingly, Oskar Blues isn’t currently distributed in Indiana.  This collaboration would be the … Read the rest

Jerome & Spikes 2011 Barley Ryne (US Edition)

Meet the American edition of Spike & Jerome’s Barley Ryne.  As you may remember, last year Terrapin collaborated with Brasserie BFM in Switzerland.  The result was a sour/tart rye based barleywine aged in rum barrels and imported to the U.S. by BFM.

Above is the U.S. label, for a version of the barley wine that is a blend of 2/3 ale and 1/3 ale that has been aging in bourbon barrels at the Terrapin brewery in Athens, Georgia.  Note the name transposition to Jerome & Spikes.  Terrapin  is currently deciding when this version will be released.… Read the rest
