Omission Gluten Free Beers Launching Nationally

Those who want or need more Gluten Free beer options will soon have two more to choose from.  Omission Lager and Omission Pale Ale are now national offerings.   Oregon was the first state to receive these beers from Widmer Brothers.  Each beer is brewed with malted barley crafted to remove the presence of gluten.

Gluten levels in every batch of Omission beer are measured by the brewery and two independent labs using the R5 Competitive ELISA test to ensure that the beer meets the brewery’s standards. Widmer’s New Omission Beers

You’ve heard of sin by omission, but what about brewing by omission? These new labels by Widmer Brothers Brewing signal a new series of beers coming out of Portland, Oregon.    As you can see from the labels, there are 2 editions planned at the moment: Omission Pale Ale, 5.8% ABV and Omission Lager 4.6% ABV.  Tag line – “It isn’t just what we took out, it’s what we left in.” Slated for 12oz bottles.

2011 In Review: Top 20 Craft Breweries

Not everybody knows the Top 2o craft brewers in the United States.  To be considered craft, you have to produced less than 6 million barrels of beer a year.  Overall in 2011, the beer business declined by 1.5% nationally. (When you factor in the large breweries.)  The craft sector saw an increase of 15% growth in volume of barrels shipped.  Here’s the Top 20 brewers ranked:

Widmer’s Kill Devil Features Palm Sugar, Molasses, & Rum

Coming this Spring – An insanely good sounding Widmer Brothers Kill Devil Brown Ale.   90% of this ale is brewed with palm sugar and molasses, aged in rum barrels. 10% is barreled straight brown ale.    The Brother’s Reserve is a series of 22oz bombers (presented in a nice box) that ranges from barleywines, braggots, wheat ales and more. Kill Devil is the 6th release.
