Left Hand Brewing Up 49.4%, Installing Bottling Line

2011 was another big year for Left Hand Brewing.  Today, Left Hand released their 2011 report, outlining production and growth.  Up over 49% over the previous year.   That’s 36,830 barrels (or 1,141,730 gallons of beer.)

Over the past 5 years, Left Hand has spent over $9 million expanding in order to keep up with demand.  In 2011, a new keg line was installed. In 2012, A new bottling line will be installed by the fall.  The price tag on that badboy will be close to $3 million.  The new line will fill bottles 4x faster.… Read the rest

Left Hand Continues Rolling Out Nitro Bottles

Left Hand Brewing continues to rollout Nitro Milk Stout bottles this year.  The first markets have been around Colorado of course.  They have released dates for the next market rollouts.  Back in October at GABF, Left Hand officially introduced the world to Milk Stout in nitro bottles for the first time.  These bottles are a first among craft brewers.  Milk Stout is Left Hand’s #1 selling beer.

A “Beer To Keep” From Left Hand

Left Hand Brewing has a new draft offering on the way, Biere De Garde.  This “beer to keep” is a draft only offering.  It was the winning entry in a Colorado Home Brew competition.  The winning entry gets to brew the recipe on a professional system.

Hops: Proprietary
Malts:  Pilsner, Munich, Dark Munich, CaraVienne, Aromatic, Biscuit
Yeast: French Ale Yeast

Tasting notes (Per LH): Pours with an off white dense head capping amber liquid with orange highlights. Warm malt notes  of toffee, caramel and graham cracker. Tropical fruity aromas appear with further sniffing. First taste is of rich maltiness segueing to candied fruit and a dry, slightly bitter finish. Alcohol warmth tries to poke through the sweetness.

NOTE: These details are subject to change.

Terrapin Brewing & Left Hand Brewing are about to embark on their 4th brew in the Midnight Project Collaboration Series.  Each year, the location of the brew switch from brewery to brewery.  Year 1: Longmont. Beer: Terra-Rye’Zd  Year 2: Athens. Beer: Depth Charge.  Year 3: Longmont. Beer: Oxymoron.

This year’s edition will be brewed in July sometime in Athens, Georgia.  Here are some tentative details.  Peaches.  A mixture of both Colorado & Georgia peaches.  Style, other ingredients and such have yet to be decided.  That’s what getting together over beers is for. (Hey, that’s where the series started right??)
