Green Flash/Founder’s Collab “Linchpin” Arrives In May

Founder’s Better Half Releases Today

Founder’s Brewing’s newest Backstage Series installment goes on sale today. (About an hour from now.) Curmudgeon’s Better Half is a beer formerly known as Kaiser’s Curmudgeon. We’re talking old ale brewed with molasses, aged 254 days in bourbon barrels that were recently used for aging maple syrup.

The Founder’s tap room will feature 750ml bottles of Better Half for $17 dollars a piece. After today, a limited amount of Better Half will ship to Founder’s markets for beer geeks to fight over.

UPDATE: This is indeed the 3rd release in the Backstage Series. Arriving in February, 2012.

By the looks of it, the 3rd release of Founders Backstage Series has just been unveiled. Old Curmudgeon’s Better Half is an old ale, brewed with molasses, and aged in maple syrup bourbon barrels. (ala CBS).

I believe this beer goes under another name- Kaiser Curmudgeon, and draft only offering released sometime last year.

If this is Release #3, it was supposed to have arrived by the end of 2011, but the beer just wasn’t ready yet, pushing it into 2012..… Read the rest

Founder’s Brewing posted some pics for one of the most anticipated beer releases this year – Canadian Breakfast Stout.

The beer is scheduled for release on October 1st at the Grand Rapids taproom, and October 3rd into limited distribution. The beer ranks among the Top 10 in the world on Ratebeer & Beer Advocate.

Canadian Breakfast Stout is an Imperial Stout brewed with a blend of coffees and imported chocolates, then aged in spent bourbon barrels that have most recently been aging pure Michigan maple syrup.

The ABV is higher than 4%, so those hardcore session people are going to have a tough time with this one.
