Hoppin’ Frog & De Molen Create European Fusion Beer

Hoppin' Frog U.S. Meets Europe S.I.P.A

Fred Karm of Hoppin’ Frog (Akron, OH) recently spent some time in Europe. Brewers don’t go abroad just to see the sights. They brew.  First stop? Brouwerij De Molen. This is the first of three collaborations he brewed on his trip.  The beer is a fusion of two styles, a saison (of European origin) and a hoppy IPA (America loves the hops).

U.S. MEETS EUROPE S.I.P.A. Collaborating with De Molen Brewery in the “Green Heart” of The Netherlands, we have created a wild and inventive recipe that is a unique blend from the best of both worlds! A super-charged Saison I.P.A. is born, featuring kilos of American hops to add a crazy twist to this European-style ale. The fruity, spicy flavors of this malty Double Saison are nicely complimented by an abundance of late and dry-hopping with the finest American hops.

Style: Ummm…
Availability: 22 oz bombers
Arrival: TBA

10.9% ABV

Three Floyds brewed Zes Zes Zes (aka Six Six Six) with De Molen in Indiana.  Mentioned on the label, Three Floyds will brew one over in Holland too. While the recipe is the same, the flavor nuances will be different.  The label tells the story:

Now this is a saison! This refereshing Belgian-style ale is the combined effort of Three Floyds Brewing and De Molen’s fantastic brewer Menno (the real Dutch Hercules). This spicy and bracing ale was brewed in Munster, Indiana, but look out for the one we brew in Holland at De Molen. Each beer will be the same recipe, but the different breweries will lend their own house flavors to this saison.  Cheers and drost!

Future release.

Three Floyds & De Molen Create Zes Zes Zes

Three Floyds Brewing (Munster, IN) and Brouwerij De Molen have teamed up to create Zes Zes Zes. The beer was brewed on June 15th, while the folks at De Molen were touring the United States leading up to The Festival.  The beer is a big saison, fermented warm, and dry hopped. It’s evil to boot. Zes Zes Zes translates to “6 6 6” the saison of the beast.  So, so metal.
