Iron Hill To Open 10th Location (PR)

May, 22 2012 – Voorhees, NJ) — The region’s most popular brewery & dining destination, Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant, will open its 10th location at Voorhees Town Center (13107 Town Center Boulevard, 856.545.9009) in winter 2012/2013. This will be the second Iron Hill in southern New Jersey, following a tremendously successful Maple Shade location. Voorhees Town Center, a mixed-use property owned by Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT), is emerging as the true ‘downtown’ of Voorhees.

“Our vision for Voorhees Town Center is to bring together a blend of national retailers with the best of regional and local restaurateurs, merchants and businesses so that it is truly a community where people can where people can shop, dine, live and play,” says Joseph F. Coradino, President, PREIT Services, LLC and PREIT-RUBIN, Inc. “The addition of a high-quality, leading restaurant like Iron Hill is another step in this transformation.”

“We were looking for a place with a vibrant community where we could become a part of a great neighborhood, and Voorhees Town Center is exactly that,” says Iron Hill founding partner Kevin Finn, who along with co-owners Kevin Davies and Mark Edelson, have continuously sought out thriving locations for their award-winning concept. All three partners are New Jersey natives.

Beyond the comfortable & welcoming interior of the bar and dining areas, large plate glass windows will separate the restaurant from the state-of-the-art brewery that will produce Iron Hill’s award-winning brews. Through the brewery’s windows, beer enthusiasts will be able to watch the brewing process. Guests will enjoy Iron Hill’s six house beers, monthly beer releases and selections from the Bottled Reserves, the brewery’s most award-winning beers from over the years that have been bottled to enjoy in the restaurant or to take home. Iron Hill’s house beers are: Iron Hill Lager Light, a crisp and refreshing lager with subtle malt and hop flavors; Raspberry Wheat, an American wheat beer with just a touch of natural raspberry flavor; Ironbound Ale, a medium-bodied American Pale Ale with an overwhelming hop presence; Pig Iron Porter, a dark ale with a bold roasted flavor with chocolate notes and slight bitterness; Vienna Red Lager, a European-style, medium-bodied amber beer with a delicate malt aroma; and a rotating Seasonal Belgian Ale.

Finn, Davies and Edelson will enlist Philadelphia-based Sandvold Blanda Architecture + Interiors, who have designed each of their locations, to create the 250-seat restaurant featuring comfortable dining areas, an open kitchen and an exposed microbrewery. In the bustling lounge area, floor-to-ceiling windows will open up completely to the street, weather permitting, dark wood high-top tables and a large mahogany bar offer the perfect place to enjoy freshly brewed beer, select wines by the glass and creative cocktails. Gray slate floors, forest green accents and a vibrant beer-inspired mural, created by acclaimed artist Jeff Schaller, help create the restaurant’s handsome atmosphere.

Flying Fish & Iron Hill Make “Iron Fish”

Iron Fish Collab

Iron Fish Collab

Iron Hill Brewing & Flying Fish Brewing are teaming up to make a new (Jersey) collaboration.  The beer is called Iron Fish, obviously a mashup of the 2 breweries names.  Iron Fish will be a Belgian style Black IPA, released to the public on Saturday August 27th.

[Editors note: Iron Hill got started in my hometown of Newark, Delaware in 1996.  It was one of the first places I ever had a taste of “good” beer.  They have since expanded to multiple brewpubs in the northeast.]

Press Release

(Maple Shade, NJ) — On Wednesday, July 27 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., two of the top brewers in New Jersey, Chris LaPierre of Iron Hill and Casey Hughes of Flying Fish, will join forces at Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant (124 East Kings Highway, 856-273-0300) to create Iron Fish, a Belgian black IPA sure to be known as one of the Garden State’s finest ales. This special collaborative beer will be released to the public on Saturday, August 27, and is a major brewing event that brings two renowned brewers together for a common goal: creating a flagship beer for the state they’re proud to call home.

“At Iron Hill, we’re proud to call Maple Shade our home, and I can’t wait to partner with Casey to create this tribute to all that’s good about New Jersey brewing,” says LaPierre. Adds Hughes, “Chris and I have wanted to create a special beer together for a long time, so Iron Fish is going to be very special — and only brewed in limited quantities, so be sure to experience it right away!”

Since opening, South Jersey magazine has awarded Iron Hill Maple Shade two “Best of the Best Awards” for Best Bar 2009 and Best Midnight Snack 2010. Visitors of OpenTable.com gave Iron Hill their coveted Diner’s Choice Awards for top ten Kid-Friendly Restaurant and Vibrant Bar Scene. Founded by home brewers Mark Edelson and Kevin Finn and restaurateur Kevin Davies in Newark, DE in 1996, Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant is the region’s fastest-growing restaurant group, blossoming from one restaurant and brewery to eight locations across the mid-Atlantic. A ninth location, in Chestnut Hill, PA, will open later this year.

Flying Fish was the world’s first ‘virtual’ microbrewery, establishing an Internet presence as early as 1995. That presence helped to generate press interest and woo investors to the fledgling brewery, which would not open for business until late 1996. Today, owner Gene Muller, head brewer Casey Hughes and their team oversee four full-time styles, as well as a variety of seasonal beers. Their brews have been featured at the Great British Beer Festival, Oregon Brewers Festival and Canada’s Biere de Mondial Festival. They have won medals at the Great American Beer Festival, Real Ale Festival and the World Beer Championships, and are the only New Jersey brewery featured in Best American Beers. Flying Fish was also named “Local Hero: Beverage Artisan of 2009” by Edible Jersey magazine.
