Hoppin Frog Uses Irish Whiskey Barrels in New B.O.R.I.S. Edition

You might have already seen Hoppin’ Frog Brewing’s (Akron, OH) Barrel Aged B.O.R.I.S. A crazy good, sometimes overlooked, barrel aged imperial stout.  Meet a variant of this classic- Bairille Aois B.O.R.I.S. aged in Irish whiskey barrels. The brewery chose these particular barrels to created a cleaner, crisper whiskey characteristic in this dark and brooding stout. Look for this edition on shelves soon.

A cleaner, crisper whiskey character is imparted from very special Irish whiskey barrels, to add a super-smooth, buttery, complex character to our multi-award-winning BORIS The Crusher Oatmeal-Imperial Stout. May the luck of the Irish be with you!

Hoppin Frog to Open Brewpub

How is it possible that a brewery in the top 20, according to Rate Beer, doesn’t even have a tasting room? Well the frog’s out of the bag – Hoppin Frog has been secretly planning a brewpub for a while now and hopes to be open this summer. The 24 tap space is located just next door to the brewery and will offer more than just Hoppin Frog’s award winning beers.

Fine spirits, wine, and other elite beers from around the world will be available as well as signature dishes from their kitchen and a stage for live music and entertainment. This will be the first brewpub to open in their home town of Akron, OH.

Dopplebocks, or double-bocks are one of the richest, most memorable German-style lagers. They showcase a malty sweetness with an irresistable toasted barley flavor and hints of caramel and toffee. Hoppin’ Frog Euro Collab #3: Frog Hops From Amager

Frog Hops From Amager is the third in a series of European collaborations with Fred Karm of Hoppin’ Frog Brewery (Akron, OH). While travelling abroad, Karm brewed with (De Molen, Fanø and now Amager.) The previous two offerings have been released at the brewery already.

From the heart of Denmark’s craft beer scene, Amager Brewery in Copenhagen Denmark was the host of a well-planned collaboration brew with Hoppin’Frog we call Frog Hops To Amager. This is a special Chocolate Wheat Imperial Stout designed to satisfy all the senses, with a perfect mix of the best American hopsand European malts. Coming back home and brewing this beer at Hoppin’ Frog, the name naturally becomes Frog Hops From Amager. With the special German chocolate wheat malt and mix of 3 caramel malts, together they create a roast and smooth Chocolate Wheat Imperial Stout with a great American style hop character.

Hoppin’ Frog Euro Collab #2, Friday

The second beer in a series of collaboration brews by Hoppin’ Frog (Akron, OH) is Natasha Røcks America and it arrives this Friday. Founder Fred Karm recently did a beer run through Europe and the 2nd of the 3 brewed abroad is Natasha. A collaboration with Fanø Bryghus (Fanø, Denmark).

NATASHA ROCKS AMERICA In a collaboration with Fano Brewery on Fano Island in Denmark, we created an Imperial Stout recipe to satisfy our own deepest desires. Brewing it on this picturesque summertime vacation island is how Natasha started, and of course we couldn’t wait to brew it at Hoppin’ Frog! The result is Natasha Rocks America — a rich, hoppy Imperial Stout with the deep-roasted, smooth flavor of Chocolate Rye malt. And, Natasha is generously dry-hopped with the perfect mix of select American hops, adding a great hop character to this super-tasty Imperial Stout collaboration brew.

Hoppin’ Frog will release Oktoberfest Froggy Style Lager todayIt is the brewery’s first fest beer.

The second beer in a series of collaboration brews by Hoppin’ Frog (Akron, OH) is Natasha Røcks America. Fred Karm (founder of Hoppin’) recently took a beer run through Europe and did a series of Euro collaborations. His first stop was De Molen, where they made USA Meets Europe S.I.P.A., a saison/IPA fusion. Stop #2 finds a collaboration with Fanø Bryghus (Fanø, Denmark).
