Hi-Wire Man Eater, a citrus bomb of an imperial IPA returns this month

Hi-Wire Man Eater

Hi-Wire Man Eater, the Asheville, North Carolina based brewery’s popular imperial IPA returns this month for another round in cans.

The hop headliners in this release are Amarillo and Citra. Hopped at a rate of 3.5 pounds per barrel, this beer is full of citrus, floral notes, and spice. In abundance, we might add. You love bold imperial IPAs then but Hi-Wire Man Eater on your must-have list.

Each sip starts with orange zest flavors that turn to a lingering floral finish with a touch of warming alcohol heat. Very bright, very spring-like. Just sit back, relax, and crank up some Hall & Oates.

Hi-Wire Hop Circus Tropical White IPA opens new year-round IPA series

Hi-Wire Hop Circus Tropical White IPA

Hi-Wire Hop Circus Tropical White IPA will lead off new “Hop Circus”, a year-round series of rotating India pale ales.

The Asheville, North Carolina based brewery has found great success with their Hi-Pitch Mosaic India Pale Ale, as well as their hazy Hazy&Juicy&Hoppy&Fresh series of IPAs. Instead of departing too far from these hoppy successes, Hi-Wire is opting to tack on a rotating series of beer’s most popular style – the India pale ale.

Hi-Wire Hop Circus Tropical White IPA is the inaugural release in this “Hop Circus”, a white (wheat heavy) IPA. The “tropical’ is thanks to mango and pineapple fruit, plus a blast of white grape and citrus from Hallertau Blanc and Citra hops. “With the Hop Circus series, we get to meet in the middle by experimenting in the wide range of IPA styles, but keeping the beer at a more affordable price point,” says brewery co-owner Chris Frosaker.

Tropical White IPA, as well as all the Hop Circus releases, are available in 12-ounce cans and draft across the brewery’s entire distribution footprint.

Style: IPA (White IPA) (w/ Mango. Pineapple.)
Hops: Hallertau Blanc, Citra
Malts: Rolled Oats

Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft. One-Off Release.
Debut: September 2018

Hi-Wire releases a Horchata inspired edition of their 10W-40 imperial stout this weekend

Hi-Wire Horchata 10W-40

Hi-Wire Horchata 10W-40, a dessert inspired edition of the brewery’s increasingly popular imperial stout is coming this weekend.

The Asheville, North Carolina based brewery debuted 10W-40 Imperial Stout, a coffee, chocolate, and vanilla a few years ago. It truly does pour like motor oil. Not long after, a barrel-aged edition debuted.

On July 7th, this “oil” line gains a horchata edition of the imperial stout. This edition features chocolate, cinnamon, and vanilla beans, with a creaminess derived from lactose milk sugar.

This decadent stout boasts huge notes of fresh vanilla, amaretto, and cinnamon with an incredibly smooth and chocolatey finish.

Hi-Wire Horchata 10W-40 is a 16-ounce can offering, available in the taproom on July 7th at 12 pm. Limited distribution to follow.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ Chocolate. Cinnamon. Vanilla Beans. Lactose.)

Hi-Wire Brewing is building a third location in Durham, North Carolina

HI Wire Durham Taproom

Asheville, North Carolina based Hi-Wire Brewing already boasts two locations in one of the most visited beer towns in America. The state of North Carolina will soon be able to claim a third, this time in the city of Durham.

The “Durham Fun Zone” is expected to open by the end of 2018 at 800 Taylor Street. The 8,884 square foot space boasts 24 taps for Hi-Wire beers, as well as guest taps, and a plethora of games like shuffleboard, table tennis, and foosball tables.

While not a part of the initial build-out, space has been dedicated for a future pilot brewing system. This new construction is part of the Golden Belt campus in Durham, a 320,000 square foot facility that was once a textile and tobacco facility.

Currently, the brewery operates their original brewery in Asheville’s South Slope area, as well as their “Big Top” production facility less than a mile from city center.

The brewery currently expects the Durham Fun Zone to open in late October, barring any construction delays.

One of our favorites from last year. Hi-Wire Citra Gose returns to shelves

The tart gose is big on the tropical notes of Citra hops which fall on a background of sour tartness. Every sip of this is a reminder that warm weather is coming.
