The Bruery & Funky Buddha team up on Guava Libre

The Bruery Guava Libre

The Bruery Guava Libre, a collaboration with Florida’s Funky Buddha, is coming later this year.

If you need to know just one thing about Funky Buddha, it would have to known their love of food inspired beers. Maple Bacon Coffee Porter, Moro Moro Blood Orange IPA, and Sweet Potato Casserole are prime examples. Teaming up with California based The Bruery, the duo has another food-inspired beer headed your way in the near future.

The Bruery Guava Libre is based on the Cuban dessert pastelitos de guayaba. The tempting dessert incorporates guava paste, cream cheese, powdered sugar and puff pastries.

Echoing the pastry, the breweries created an imperial cream ale brewed with guava, turned dessert-like thanks to milk sugar and vanilla beans.

This sensory getaway transports you to a corner bodega with our friends at Funky Buddha in South Florida to recreate the flavors you’d find in a “pastelito de guayaba.” Championing the big, bold flavors that both our breweries are known for, we brewed an imperial cream ale, adding lactose and vanilla to impart sweet, custard-like ribbons, and guava for filling its conceptual authenticity. It’s a collaboration that’s equal parts inspiration and admiration.

The Bruery Guava Libre will be available in 750 milliliter bottles around the same time fall seasonal Autumn Maple returns.

Style: Cream Ale (w/ Lactose. Guava. Vanilla Beans.)
Availability: 750ml Bottles
Debut: Fall, 2017 (Estimated)

7.5% ABV

Apples, cinnamon, vanilla. Funky Buddha Muy Bonita returns this month.

Funky Buddha Muy Bonita

Funky Buddha Muy Bonita is back in action in March.

A big sister to the Oakland Park, Florida based brewery’s Bonita Applebum Apple Pie Brown (note the allusion to A Tribe Called Quest), Funky Buddha Muy Bonita is anything but small. The imperial brown ale is brewed with apple, cinnamon, and vanilla. Definitely, the bigger, badder “bum”.

The big sister to our Bonita Applebum Apple Pie Brown, Muy Bonita is a bigger, badder ‘bum. This double brown ale flaunts a bodacious body and a stunning combination of real cinnamon, vanilla, and apples. So thick, she’s like a hip hop song.

Funky Buddha Muy Bonita is a part of the brewery’s Small Batch Series, with likes of Lemon Meringue Pie, and Maple Bacon Coffee Porter. Available in 22 ounce bottles for a limited time starting March 19th.

Style: Imperial Brown Ale (w/ Vanilla Beans, Cinnamon, Apple.)

Funky Buddha Moro Moro Blood Orange IPA, Feb 19th

Funky Buddha Moro Moro Blood Orange IPA

Funky Buddha Moro Moro Blood Orange IPA pours once again on February 19th.

This beer is all about the Citrus × sinensis fruit, aka blood orange. Specifically the ‘Moro’ cultivar. The blood red juice gives this India pale ale a different juice complexity, when compared to oranges.

More Moro Blood Orange IPA is back! We ceremoniously slaughtered heaps of crimson-fleshed “Moro” fruit to retrieve its delicious ichor, and then blended it with caramel malts and grapefruity hops to produce the sticky, citrus blast that we crave. Oranges: you’re on notice.

Funky Buddha Moro Moro Blood Orange IPA is seasonally available in 12 ounce bottles and draft.

Style: IPA (w/ Blood Orange)
Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft. Feb-May
Latest Return: 2/19/17

7% ABV, 50 IBUs

Funky Buddha adds crowlers in February

Next time you make a beer treat Oakland Park, Florida’s Funky Buddha Brewery, you’ll have a option to take home a crowler or two. The 32 ounce can-on-demand made popular like Oskar Blues is coming to the taproom soon.

The addition of crowlers will be a big benefit to visitors, judging by the amount of experimental draft only options that the brewery makes available.

Look for crowlers to be available for certain draft offerings starting in early February.
