Burial Beer & Hoof Hearted Brewing create ‘Two Dollars’ Pale Ale
Asheville, North Carolina’s Burial Beer and Marengo, Ohio’s Hoof Hearted Brewing have teamed up on a new pale ale.
This beer starts with the love of 80’s movies. If you don’t believe it, check out the Sloth and Burt Reynolds mural on the side of the Burial’s taproom. This beer starts with the love of the John Cusack classic, Better Off Dead. “Johnny” the menacing paperboy in the movie is constantly yelling “I want my two dollars” for the papers.
In that same vein, the brewing duo have created a beer for the taproom that is just $2 dollars.
‘Two Dollars’ Pale Ale is brewed with coriander and lime, plus a touch of lupulin powder (basically concentrated hops) and a bold yeast. The beer is big on flavor, not on price.
Truly a sight to behold: a man beaten. The once great champ, now, a study in moppishness. Hard enough on his luck to run form a blood-thirsty barrel of killer paperboys. But smart enough to save $2 for this can of delightful pale ale, thriftily hashed together with lupulin powder, citrus peel, and tale from our childhood that is just a beloved by these Ohio boys.
Burial Beer Two Dollars Pale Ale will be available in 12 ounce cans and draft at the brewery on Thursday, April 20th.
Style: Pale Ale (w/ Coriander. Lime. Lupulin Powder.)
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft
Debut: 4/20/17
5% ABV

Burial Beer Co. is now available in New York
Asheville, North Carolina’s Burial Beer Co. is now available in New York. The brewery is being distributed by Union Beer.
Jess Reiser, Burial’s co-founder, grew up in Brooklyn, and has set her sites on home once the brewery finished their production expansion.
“Despite the, sometimes daunting, size of New York City, it is my home. It is where I grew up, my roots are there and I couldn’t be happier to be bringing our passion home. ” – Jess Reiser
Launch events have been happening all week around the city, some hosted with their friends Other Half Brewing, Three’s Brewing and Transmitter Brewing.
Burial Beer ceases South Carolina distribution
Asheville, North Carolina based Burial Beer Co. will no longer distribute to South Carolina. The reason isn’t completely clear.
In a statement today, Burial had this to say:
Despite having a stellar relationship with our distributor and the independent retailers in SC, state law prevents a distributor (and thus the brewery, who is required by law to use a distributor) from refusing to sell a product to any licensed retailer that places an order for a given brewery’s beer, regardless of other concerns for the product’s well-being. We have decided that the enforcement of this law is contradictory to our business plan and our core values…
The brewery declined to give more details when reached for comment.
What we can conclude is that Burial Beer wants to deny sale of their product to a retailer or retailers, based on their preference, or concern on how the product is sold or served. However, state law in South Carolina states that neither Burial, nor Advintage (Burial’s distributor) can deny anyone the sale that orders the beer. This inability to refuse sales goes against Burial Beer’s business plan.
Due to this, we can only conclude that for this reason they are parting ways with South Carolina until the laws in this respect, change.
We want to thank the team at Advintage and their employees who each put in countless hours readying distribution in SC. We will continue to monitor the state laws and hope to be distributing down south someday in the future.
We’re pouring one out for you SC. We will miss you.
Burial Beer Co. is available in North Carolina, and very recently added Georgia distribution. No new distribution territories have been disclosed at the time of this article.
