Schlafly Partners With Backpocket Brewing

Schlafly Brewing (St. Louis, MO) is expanding.  In order to do so, they are partnering with a new brewery in Iowa called Backpocket Brewery.  The construction of the 25,000 barrel brewery will begin soon.  The brewing activities will be headed up by Jacob Simmons, a previous employee of Schlafy from 2006-2007.

The new Backpocket brewery will share characteristics with the Schlafly Bottleworks brewery.  They will have a beautiful 30 bbl brewhouse, fermentation vessels of similar design, and state of the art bottling equipment.  Jacob has really done a great job to get the brewery designed and the project moving forward.

….To uphold the high standards of our beer quality, Schlafly will recruit a new team member. Working for the quality assurance team, this Iowa-based employee will also promote beer in the area. This is a very exciting time for us at Schlafly Beer and we look forward to meeting lots of new friends in Iowa for years to come.

The partnership will allow Schlafly to grow more in the midwest.  It is also important to note, that Schlafly will have no ownership state in Backpocket Brewing.  The facility is scheduled for completion in summer, 2012.  [Schlafly]

Just recently, Schlafly also announced a Tennessee partnership with Blackstone Brewing.  Blackstone will be brewing beer for Schlafly later in 2011.
