New Release: Abita Seersucker Pils

Abita Brewing has released Seersucker Summer Pils in draft and bottles. The full bodied pilsner is a brand new seasonal from Abita.

Abita Seersucker Summer Pils (June – September) is a traditional pilsner with a full bodied malt flavor, hop bitterness and a light golden color. It is made with pilsner and carapils malts, hopped with German Tradition and Spalt hops. This Pils pairs well with seasonal summer favorites like grilled chicken, salmon or garden salads. It also is a refreshing choice with spicier dishes, Mexican food and most Asian cuisines. Try it with a mild white Vermont cheddar, Havarti or Monterey Jack cheese.

Abita’s Strawberry Doppelbock To Be Bottled

Abita Brewing’s Strawberry Harvest Lager is a hit each spring when it is released. The ale is flavored with fresh Louisiana strawberries.

In addition to Strawberry Harvest, the brewery has released in small batches, a rendition of their Andygator Doppelbock infused with strawberries, dubbed Strawator. A sweet, boozy, dessert offering.

Abita is gearing up to bottle Strawator as Strawgator in 22oz bombers.

Abita Strawgator is the fusion of Strawberry Harvest Lager sweetness with the bite of Andygator. This golden lager is made with malted barley and wheat. It is hopped with German Perle hops for a delicate hop flavor. After filtration, generous amounts of fresh Louisiana strawberry juice are added, giving the beer a pleasant sweet taste and aroma, as well as a rich golden color and slight cloudiness.

Abita’s Bourbon Street Imperial Stout, In Bourbon

Abita Brewing (Abita Springs, LA) is ties in one of the most famous streets in the world with new Bourbon Street Imperial Stout. No blends here, this stout is 100% barrel aged.

For centuries centuries New Orleans’ famed Bourbon Street has inspired good times and fine libations like our Abita Bourbon Street Imperial Stout. This hand-crafted artisanal brew is aged for months in wooden barrels used to make small batch bourbon whiskey. During barrel aging, the brew absorbs the flavors of the barrels which intensifies the taste and aroma of roasted malt, warm vanilla and smooth bourbon.

Look for Abita Bourbon Street Imperial Stout in 22oz bombers, and draft.

A New Bourbon Offering From Abita

A new Abita Brewing Select Series offering – Bourbon Street Baltic Porter.

For this release, the brewery aged a roasty Baltic Porter and aged it in bourbon barrels.  The final result is big – 9.25% ABV.  Release ETA to follow.

Abita Brewing Goes Solar

Abita Brewing Company is getting greener. The brewery announced today the completion of an installation of 340 solar panels on the warehouse of the main facility.

All in all, the panels will offset 2,737,202 kilowatt hours of electrical usage. That is an offset approximately 2,054 tons of carbon or 10,264 trees.

The project was made possible through the USDA’s Rural Energy for America Program (REAP).  The grant provided a 25% supplement the cost of the project.  It is one of the largest commercial solar systems in Louisiana.

South Coast Solar was granted the project, based in New Orleans. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held tomorrow, September 20th commemorating the event.

Abita’s Summer of 2014 New Addition

Abita Brewing is making some lineup changes in 2014. Next summer will see the release of Seersucker Summer Pils in draft and bottles. More detail to follow in the Spring. Expect this alongside a few line up changes and shifts to be officially announced soon.

Abita to Add Grapefruit IPA to Harvest Brews

Abita-Grapefruit-Harvest-IPA-labelComing this December, Abita Brewing will be adding Grapefruit Harvest IPA to their Harvest line of brews. The Harvest lines features ingredients grown in Louisiana and harvested at the peak of their season in limited release in small quantities. This beer will feature Louisiana Ruby-Red grapefruit and cascade hops.
