Beer Made with Bull Testicles Now A Real Thing

For April Fools Day, Wynkoop Brewing released a video about a brewing a beer with Rocky Mountain Oysters. That’s a fancy phrase for bull balls. They brewery is proud to announce that on October 8, 2012 they will release the real thing.

In the weeks and months after the spoof video, people around the country were talking about it. Wynkoop mulled it over and thought, why not? Fried bull testicles are actually a local Colorado dish. (Um, ok.) 25 pounds of bull testicles were sliced, roasted, and added to the mash. Thus, Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout – a beer with bull balls.

Flavor? Wynkoop describes it as: Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout is an assertive foreign-style stout, slightly viscous, with a deep brown color. It has equally deep flavors of chocolate syrup, Kahlua, and espresso, along with a palpable level of alcohol and a savory umami-like note.It finishes dry and roasted with a fast-fading hop bite.

A total of 8 barrels were produced (248 gallons). Those attending GABF can try to at their table. (If you’re feeling ballsy).

Style: Stout (w/ Bull Testicles)
Hops: Styrian Goldings
Malts: Roasted Barley, Special B, & 5 more Colorado grown

Availability: Draft only, @GABF

7% ABV, 3 BPB (Balls per barrel)

Sous chef Andrew Langlo cuts the balls. Guys, does that make you cringe?
