Bayou Teche Barrel Ages Honey Beer

Bayou Teche Miel Sauvage

Wild Honey. That’s what Bayou Teche Biere’s Miel Sauvage means when you translate it. That name fits too. This honey ale uses local Louisiana honey from the brewery’s neighbor Bernard Apiaries. Sauvage is actually completely inspired by French farmhouse breweries making Biere de Mel or honey beers.

For added complexity and flavor, Bayou Teche aged this one in spirit barrels. The beer is described as This sorrel colored beer has a pronounced honey aroma and is barrel aged to contribute to a smooth vanilla oakiness.

Look for bottles of this offering in the coming months.
